So, what's the role?


Kin Insurance is looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented First Notice of Loss (FNOL) Agent to join our growing Claims team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers who are either reporting a new loss or seeking assistance with an existing claim. As our customers reach out during challenging times, you will help to provide exceptional service and support. Your main responsibilities will include collecting key information, guiding customers through the claims process, and ensuring that all details are accurately documented. This is an entry-level opportunity perfect for someone eager to start a career in the insurance industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • First Point of Contact: Manage incoming calls from customers and other contacts reporting a loss or seeking information about their claim, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience.

  • Customer Support: Provide timely, clear, and empathetic responses to customer inquiries, offering reassurance and guidance throughout the claims process.

  • Data Collection: Gather and accurately record key details from each call, ensuring all information is correctly documented in the appropriate claim file.

  • Collaboration: Partner with other members of the Claims department to ensure accurate processing and prompt resolution of claims.

  • Education & Training: Engage in ongoing training to stay updated on insurance practices, claims procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Administrative Tasks: Perform a variety of tasks with precision and attention to detail, including project work as needed.

  • Schedule Adherence: Comply with the assigned work schedule, including meeting any catastrophe-related coverage requirements when necessary.


A day in the life could include:

  • Handling incoming calls to interpret, analyze, and assist with customer inquiries

  • Respond to each inquiry promptly and efficiently, responses/resolutions to each inquiry in an empathetic and professional manner

  • Completing data-entry into client claims database or other business applications

  • Assisting in filing new loss claims reported: confirm damages, DOL, and other conditions of the insured’s reported loss

  • Participating in educational trainings/meetings to ensure accuracy and standards

  • Collaborating with colleagues across the Claims department as needed based on workload, promoting a culture of teamwork

  • Adhering to assigned work schedule (see catastrophe requirement)


I’ve got the skills...but do I have the necessary ones?

  • Background in Customer Service; you enjoy working as part of a team

  • Superior people skills and a strong empathetic nature

  • Ability to work with those in distress; you can de-escalate and resolve customer concerns via phone

  • Superb attention to detail (it seems obvious, but this one is important!)

  • You love learning new skills and can work with tools such as G-Suite, Slack, Zoom, Snapsheet, Kustomer, and beyond.

  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus, but not required


Catastrophe Requirement:
In the event of a catastrophic event, overtime and weekend shifts will be required.
