The Opportunity

 

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E), is currently looking for a Fluid & HVAC System Design Manager for the HPC/SZC projects.

 

EPR-E, a subsidiary of Edvance (a joint venture of EDF and Framatome), is responsible for designing and constructing nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

 

This includes the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) and preparing design replication and engineering activities for Sizewell C (SZC).

 

At HPC, two new reactors will provide low-carbon electricity for six million UK homes. Early design work for SZC is also underway in both France and the UK.

What you’ll be doing

 

As the Fluid & HVAC System Design Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating multiple teams of engineers and technicians, working on fluid and HVAC systems for the Hinkley Point and Sizewell C projects. Your role will ensure timely project delivery within the agreed budget parameters.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

Technical Leadership:

  • Leading system open point resolution and contributing to modification sheets.
  • Ensuring System Design Manual (SDM) documents align with supplier feedback, site modifications, and project configurations.
  • Updating key design documents (e.g., mechanical classification, overpressure notes, I&C specifications).
  • Providing technical oversight for chiller contracts and responding to safety/design margin queries.
  • Collaborating with other engineering teams (safety, commissioning, installation, etc.).

Team Leadership:

  • Providing technical leadership, approving team documents, and leading technical meetings.
  • Guiding the team through project phases (installation, commissioning).

Cost/Schedule Management:

  • Defining and monitoring project hours for the assigned scope, developing budgets, and ensuring deliverable deadlines are met.

 

 

Who you are

 

We are looking for someone with extensive experience in nuclear engineering, with academic expertise in areas such as two-phase fluid mechanics, hydraulics, thermal science, or process engineering.

 

You should possess a strong understanding of the engineering processes involved in pressurised reactors and the associated system documentation.

 

You will have a proven track record of successfully leading diverse technical teams.

 

English language skills are a must – if you also speak French that is a bonus.
