Job Summary:
Western Midstream seeks a Flow Assurance Engineer to join the Flow Assurance Engineering team located in The Woodlands, Texas or Longmont, CO offices. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and maintain pipeline system hydraulic models in support of Operations, Commercial, and Engineering.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years of midstream engineering or operations experience, but still acquiring higher-level knowledge and capabilities.

  • Experience in pipeline design, onshore gathering operations, and maintenance.  Practical field experience is desired.  A basic knowledge of drilling and completion activities is a plus.
  • Understanding of facility automation and operation of equipment, process flow diagrams/P&IDs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AVEVA PI data historian, Seeq, Cygnet, Ignition, or equivalent SCADA system.
  • Experience in steady state and transient hydraulic modelling including working with Synergi, SPS, Pipesim, OLGA or equivalent software.  Process engineering software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards for pipeline, measurement, and gathering facilities as well as applicable local, state, and Federal regulations.  Working knowledge of applicable environmental and safety regulations.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Prior experience with data visualization software—Microsoft Power BI, TIBCO Spotfire—is a plus.
  • Ability to work within a team environment with operations, engineering, project management, field construction, and corporate personnel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with Operations personnel in assisting with finding optimal operations based on design limitations, contract requirements, and energy costs.
    • Influence decisions that improve reliability and operability, reduce risk, minimize operating costs, and create a sustainable competitive advantage.
    • Identify operational problems and promptly work with the appropriate Operations, Engineering, and/or Automation personnel to troubleshoot and address.
    • Interface directly with Control Center personnel, including bi-monthly rotational support.
  • Work with Commercial, Planning, Engineering & Construction, Field Engineering and/or Field Operations in analyzing new projects including new supplies, new deliveries, system expansions, change of service, and greenfield projects. 
    • Translate volume forecast for customer service needs and internal stakeholders.
    • Perform initial scoping of pipelines, gathering facilities (compressor stations, booster pumps, saltwater disposal facilities, etc.), and process components (control valves, meters, etc.); perform transient surge studies in compliance of DOT-PHMSA regulations.
  • Other duties, projects, and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Education:
A bachelor of Science Degree is required; Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering is preferred; other engineering disciplines may be considered with appropriate experience.

 

Grade and salary will be commensurate with relevant education and experience.

 

Certification/Licenses:

Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.

  

Travel Requirements:
Travel required for this position is up to 25%.

 

Work Schedule:
This position follows a hybrid schedule, working in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and working remotely on Wednesday and Friday.  Monday-Thursday is 9 hours, and Fridays are 4 hours.

 

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $129,300 - $194,00; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
