The Financial Aid Officer (FAO) is responsible for evaluating aid eligibility for students throughout their academic career. With a focus on regulatory and policy compliance, the FAO is tasked with performing specific processing functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Determine eligibility and accurately award aid following established guidelines for all fund sources including grants, loans, tuition assistance, military sources, etc.
- Accurately assess and approve documentation related to Title IV Verification, C Code, and other requirements.
- Calculate and schedule excess funding to be returned to a student, lender, or other source.
- Complete drop evaluations, including the Return to Title IV calculation, for students that cease attending.
- Manage complex financial aid issues and troubleshoot potential problems.
- Review and adjust accounts as needed.
- Coordinate with team members, leaders, and other departments as needed.
- Maintain minimum job performance standards, including quality, production, cohort management, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
The above responsibilities may be shared among multiple team members or an assigned responsibility may be unique to a Financial Aid Officer.
Minimum job requirements:
- 1+ year of related experience
- Detail oriented
- Flexibility
- Remain focused when performing repetitive tasks
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelors degree
- CampusNexus software knowledge
- Title IV policy knowledge
- State and federal funding program knowledge

For full-time positions, Kaplan has two Salary Grades, this position is a position is a Salary Grade A: $31,200 to $78,600. Actual compensation for this role is determined by several factors including but not limited to job level, candidate's skills, experience, and education, among other factors determined by the business.
