Finance Operations Manager

Salary: We have benchmarked a salary in the region of £40-£55k, dependant upon experience

The Role 🕵️

We are looking for our next Vabler and are seeking an experienced Finance Operations Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation. We know that you will have meticulous attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across our various remote teams. You will play a key role in optimising operational workflows, enhancing efficiency, and managing risks within the business. . 

You will report directly to the Head of People & Operations and manage our expenditure, provide guidance on finance, drive our performance metrics and manage ISO projects. This is a pivotal role in the Ops department. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Financial Operations, Forecasting, Budgeting and Strategy

  • Financial Strategy, analysis and the preparation of Financial Forecasts
  • Take ownership of Budgeting Management, Cost Control Management, Cash flow Management
  • Managing Internal Controls
  • Preparing Financial Reports
  • Monitoring Business Performance, Developing Financial Models
  • Managing Payroll globally, we are a remote and global team
  • Financial Reporting to Senior Management as required
  • Statutory and Regulatory Reporting and Filings
  • Managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables and taking management of the Accounts Mailbox

Operational Controls and Efficiency

  • Analyse existing financial and operational processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement streamlined workflows and automated solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Owning various ops software that is used throughout Vable.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of operational activities to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
  • Leverage technology and automation tools to streamline financial and ops processes and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain financial operation procedures and documentation.
  • Lead and enhance internal Financial & Ops controls, procedures and processes, looking for and implementing continuous improvement.
  • Management of Financial & Ops systems implementing upgrades where necessary.

ISO and Project Management

  • Assume the role of project manager, overseeing the project timeline and coordination across departments to meet critical milestones to maintain our ISO27001 accreditation.
  • Help to identify risks and carry out internal readiness audits to evaluate compliance with ISO27001 standards, pinpointing areas for enhancement.
  • Help to maintain the ISMS, ensuring it aligns with ISO27001 requirements and is tailored to our operational context.
  • Assist the Head of People & Operations to develop, review, and update information security policies, processes, procedures, standards, baselines and guidelines essential for achieving and maintaining certification.
  • Facilitate the external certification process, preparing all necessary documentation and evidence for auditors.
  • Regularly report to senior management and stakeholders on the certification journey and the effectiveness of the ISMS.
  • Assist the Head of People & Operations to create ISO rituals within the company.  Project management with managing risks, suppliers and access control company wide.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Track project progress, manage timelines, and address any issues or challenges that arise.
  • Any other ad hoc projects company wide.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting roles, preferably within a fast-paced environment. (Accounting firm AND Startup/Scaleup experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within Operations and Project Management, to include a familiarity with ISO.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in cloud based financial software and tools.  We use Xero.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • The right to live and work within the UK.

Nice to have:

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are a plus
  • 2+ years experience with ISO accreditation and project managing a company gaining certification
  • Project Management qualification

  • You want a 100% Finance Manager role, this is a split role of Finance and Operations and the right person will work across both and have a large part of the role within ISO.
  • We have various meetings per week and people are expected to attend and contribute
  • Our roles are quite generalist and you will be expected to do areas that you perhaps don’t like or feel is not your job.  No Vabler has this attitude and we get stuck in and pull our sleeves up.  If this isn’t you, best not apply.

Interview Process 💌

  1. Test/Intro Call: You will carry out some tests and either meet Sarah, Head of People & Operations or carry out a one way Video interview; you don't need to prepare anything in advance. 
  2. Interview: If after the intro call, we’re both excited to proceed, you will be invited to a second stage interview with Matthew CEO and Sarah, Head of People & Ops
  3. Final Interview: Will be with Matthew and Sarah and may include another applicable Manager. This may include a technical task and will be a chance to explore anything needing clarification.
