Maxar is looking for an enthusiastic Finance Data Engineer to join our Data Intelligence team. We are looking for someone energetic and talented to further our mission of delivering a high-quality analytics environment and platform to enable successful data intelligence at Maxar. This position is remote, or hybrid with several days a week on-site with your colleagues in Westminster, CO.

Your Project: The Data Intelligence team supports our finance department through critical and highly customized reporting and analytics deliverables. Your primary focus will be to maintain and enhance the underlying data architecture and data modeling that enables those end-user facing reports and dashboards.

What you’ll do day-to-day (with your colleagues)

• Work with raw SAP data using a combination of PostgreSQL, dbt, and Starburst to shape data into useful report-ready tables & views.
• Communicate with Finance stakeholders as well as system owners (primarily SAP, but also Workday Adaptive Planning and Salesforce) to understand custom analytics needs that aren’t readily achievable in existing systems.
• Proactively work with end-users to identify and address data pain points, needs, and requirements to inform a finance analytics roadmap.
• Form a partnership and work closely with Business Intelligence Analysts who will construct final deliverables that utilize the data assets you compile.

Minimum Requirements for this position:

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Applied Mathmatics or related engineering field. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.

• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in data engineer or similar positions.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience with SAP ERP systems and data.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with SQL -- including coding from scratch as opposed to running only existing scripts.
• Minimum of 2 years experience with PostgreSQL and stored procedures.
• Demonstrated experience building & orchestrating automated, multi-layer, production-level data pipelines and solutions (ETL/ELT).
• Demonstrated history of exploring and learning new technologies quickly.
• Experience with SAP data warehousing techniques & best practices.
• Experience accessing data from API data sources.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with any of the following: Starburst, Trino, dbt Core, dbt Cloud, Airflow, OpenMetadata, Apache Superset, SAP Data Services, SAP Business Objects, Tableau.
• Experience with GitHub
• Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins
• Experience with structured, semi-structure, and unstructured data
• Experience with data lake or data lake house environments

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$119,000.00 - $199,000.00 annually.

 

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
