What we are looking for:

Stem is a leading provider of renewable energy monitoring systems.  The Field Engineering Technician is responsible for providing field support for the engineering deployment team by assisting with on site and remote commissioning and deployment of system hardware, data servers, power supplies, weather stations, and basic SCADA systems. This is an entry level position with large growth opportunity into the SCADA, Controls, Storage and Solar industries. This person will also work on other engineering projects as required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Helping AlsoEnergy deliver engineering projects to our customers. 
  • Working with our Engineering Team to resolve more advanced issues when necessary.
  • Commissioning and Data Validation of field hardware and software.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot IP LAN/WAN internetworking designs.
  • Reviewing Scope of Work (SOW) documentation.
  • Answering questions from customers about the specific requirements of their solution.
  • Final documentation and reporting for completed solar and storage deployments.
  • Documenting troubleshooting and problem resolution steps of service impairments.
  • Providing training and documentation to AlsoEnergy Employees and Customers as required.
  • Providing technical support internally for more complex issues escalated from our Support Group.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field work experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of onsite field experience.
  • Knowledge of Modbus, DNP3, OPC, protocols and datatypes.
  • The ability to learn and adapt to large software systems.
  • Solar, Fire Alarm, BMS or SCADA experience valuable.
  • The ability to be a good listener, understand a problem and find a complete solution.
  • Excellent writing skills (email, documentation, etc.).
  • Excellent telephone mannerisms - some support will be provided over the phone.
  • Knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP and other internetworking concepts preferred.
  • Windows and UNIX troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically to our customers’ locations.
  • Ability to work without supervision.

Work Environment:

  • Office Setting, primarily in cubicles.
  • Moderate to high noise levels (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, moderate traffic).
  • Ability to sit or stand (standing desk provided upon request) at a computer terminal for an extended period.
  • Travel as required to remote construction sites.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate (talk/sign/type/write) and operate a computer, telephone (or alternative), keyboard (or typing device), etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Salary Range

$61,680.00 - $92,520.00
