What does a day look like for you here?

As our Field Service Infrastructure Engineer, you will be working on a home-based basis for one of our dedicated customer accounts, providing a comprehensive range of tasks vital to the smooth operation of infrastructure systems. You'll be the go-to expert for providing technical support and troubleshooting across a diverse range of infrastructure components, including servers, storage solutions, networking equipment, and virtualisation platforms. Your responsibilities span from the initial setup to ongoing maintenance and support.

You'll be tasked with not only setting up new hardware and software components but also configuring them to meet specific requirements. This involves ensuring compatibility, optimising performance, and integrating new systems seamlessly into existing infrastructure. Performing regular maintenance tasks is essential to keep the infrastructure running smoothly. This includes applying system updates, patches, and security fixes, as well as conducting regular backups to safeguard data integrity.

When issues arise, your expertise will be crucial in diagnosing the root cause of hardware and software problems promptly. Whether it's troubleshooting network connectivity issues, diagnosing server hardware failures, or resolving software conflicts, your swift action will minimise downtime and mitigate disruptions to client operations.

Accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines is essential for maintaining operational consistency and facilitating knowledge transfer. Additionally, providing training and support to end-users ensures they can utilise infrastructure resources effectively and troubleshoot minor issues independently.

Your friendly communication and people skills will make users feel valued and supported throughout the incident resolution process.  Your professionalism will be unwavering, guaranteeing an objective approach and accurate management of service perceptions within our customer’s user community. Your keen attention to detail ensures that errors or inaccuracies in documented processes or work instructions are promptly identified, reported, and rectified, maintaining impeccable version control.
