Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
The Field Placement Coordinator is responsible for securing, maintaining, and evaluating practicum sites and preceptors for nursing practicum experiences.  The Field Placement Coordinator assists nursing students with securing practicum sites and preceptors for practicum courses.  This position will work with field experience coordinators, academic leadership, program directors, specialty coordinators, faculty, student success advisors, contract administrators, support staff, as well as other administrators in the college.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in securing practicum sites and preceptors for placement in practicum courses as needed across a variety of nursing programs.
  • Utilizes sales and marketing techniques with healthcare facilities which may include cold calling, events, and presentations. 
  • Build and manage relationships with healthcare facilities and preceptors to maintain and add new partnerships for practicum placement.    
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor agreements with practicum sites to ensure sustained student access to practicum sites. 
  • Guide students through the practicum application process once a site and preceptor are identified.
  • Process and maintain appropriate documentation related to practicum placement information. 
  • Work in partnership with university departments to enhance strategic partnerships with practicum sites. 
  • Work in partnership with university contract administrators and serve as an initial affiliation agreement liaison between the university and outside practicum sites.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining communications about practicum experience policies and procedures to students, academic advising, program directors, and faculty/specialization coordinators.
  • Communicate with students, practicum sites, and preceptors via phone and electronic methods to support stakeholders regarding field experience information, requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining field experience resources (e.g. webinars, videos, communications, etc.) to support students through the field experience process. 
  • Complete the review process for practicum applications. 
  • Prepare, complete, and maintain reports, files, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Assist in training and mentoring new team members.
  • Assist in identifying and developing new initiatives to increase student practicum experience satisfaction. 
  • Work in partnership with field experience staff members as a team member to accomplish field experience goals. 
  • Attend meetings and participate in professional development programs as requested.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Field Experience Supervisor and/or the Director of Field Experience. 

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Required 
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communication, detail-oriented, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer services skills. 
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Creative, innovative, and strategic thinking as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to independently work with faculty and graduate students at a distance.
  • Ability to anticipate future trends and problems and plan for them accordingly. 
  • Ability to learn Walden’s administrative database and software systems.
  • Successful experience working in a team setting. 
  • Experience in the area of academic or other student advising is preferred.
  • Experience in an online distance-learning environment is preferred.
  • Experience working with graduate students in an educational environment is preferred. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $18.15 and $32.86. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
