Opportunity at a Glance
The Field Placement Coordinator is responsible for securing, maintaining, and evaluating practicum sites and preceptors for nursing practicum experiences. The Field Placement Coordinator assists nursing students with securing practicum sites and preceptors for practicum courses. This position will work with field experience coordinators, academic leadership, program directors, specialty coordinators, faculty, student success advisors, contract administrators, support staff, as well as other administrators in the college.
Responsibilities
- Assist students in securing practicum sites and preceptors for placement in practicum courses as needed across a variety of nursing programs.
- Utilizes sales and marketing techniques with healthcare facilities which may include cold calling, events, and presentations.
- Build and manage relationships with healthcare facilities and preceptors to maintain and add new partnerships for practicum placement.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor agreements with practicum sites to ensure sustained student access to practicum sites.
- Guide students through the practicum application process once a site and preceptor are identified.
- Process and maintain appropriate documentation related to practicum placement information.
- Work in partnership with university departments to enhance strategic partnerships with practicum sites.
- Work in partnership with university contract administrators and serve as an initial affiliation agreement liaison between the university and outside practicum sites.
- Assist in developing and maintaining communications about practicum experience policies and procedures to students, academic advising, program directors, and faculty/specialization coordinators.
- Communicate with students, practicum sites, and preceptors via phone and electronic methods to support stakeholders regarding field experience information, requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining field experience resources (e.g. webinars, videos, communications, etc.) to support students through the field experience process.
- Complete the review process for practicum applications.
- Prepare, complete, and maintain reports, files, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in training and mentoring new team members.
- Assist in identifying and developing new initiatives to increase student practicum experience satisfaction.
- Work in partnership with field experience staff members as a team member to accomplish field experience goals.
- Attend meetings and participate in professional development programs as requested.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Field Experience Supervisor and/or the Director of Field Experience.
Qualifications
- 1 year experience supervising students in their field training experience Preferred
- Experience with student support Preferred
- Experience working with providing academic counseling and advising Preferred
- Experience with Learning Management Systems and leveraging technology in learning Preferred
- Ability to write development plans with clear goals and objectives.
- Ability to manage high volume activities with strong attention to detail.
- Possess a significant record of academic (i.e., publications, presentations) and/or professional contributions to the field of study.
- Ability to assume a leadership role in coordinating administrative aspects of the field experience and functioning as a governing core faculty member.
- Ability to provide leadership and support in field experience assessment.
- Ability to assume a significant role in addressing student questions and concerns about preparing and applying for field experience
- Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change.
- Ability to work with non-traditional students.
- Ability to participate in residencies, national faculty meetings and other work-related travel.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $18.7 and $32.86. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
