Department Overview

Our Servicing experts service all Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA Finance loans originated by Walker & Dunlop as well as certain life insurance company, bank, and CMBS loans.  Our Servicing experts are the borrower’s primary point of contact and ensure that the requirements of the investors are met from loan closing through payoff.  The Department consists of six main functional areas: Loan Administration, Asset Management, Insurance Compliance, Investor Reporting, Treasury, and Compliance. W&D’s Servicing portfolio is the 8th largest in the U.S., and W&D is one of Fitch’s highest-rated Servicers, with a rating of CPS1-.

The Impact You Will Have

This position is a key role within the Consent Transactions group of our HUD Asset Management team. The HUD Asset Management team is a dynamic group at Walker & Dunlop that collaborates to handle transactions and collateral monitoring of over 1,000+ loans in our HUD servicing portfolio, comprised of both multifamily projects and healthcare facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process and manage consent transactions in ownership interests, operator changes, changes in management agent, accounts receivable financing, and/or changes to the collateral (ex: easements, partial releases).

  • Prepare applications for HUD submission including review and analysis of due diligence materials and drafting of narrative reports.

  • Review and analyze financial statements and operating history of proposed participants

  • Effectively manage assigned pipeline of transactions while ensuring identification and mitigation of risk, compliance with HUD programmatic requirements, and adherence to applicable deadlines.

  • Manage assets on the internal watch list (e.g., maintain communication channels with borrower, present status, and recommendations to senior management).

  • Review and analyze of Capital Needs Assessments and other third-party reports, providing recommendations to HUD

  • Communicate effectively with clients to determine appropriate loan arrangements to ensure compliance with HUD loan documents.

  • Work closely with HUD to ensure compliance with HUD loan documents and mitigate portfolio risk.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or 6+ years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience working with HUD multifamily and/or healthcare project loans.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Highly developed written and communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with strong work ethic to meet daily challenges of a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical skills, including use of all MS Office products, plus experience with database software and computer integration.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task

  • Experience communicating with HUD.

  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes.

  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders

This position has an estimated base salary of $90,000 - $100,000 plus discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant’s relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
