The Facilities team is part of the Corporate team at Morningstar, which unites a variety of functions including facilities, design, marketing, finance, talent & culture, corporate communications, legal, compliance, strategic planning, and technology. Each of these functions plays an essential role in supporting our company’s infrastructure, day-to-day operations, and ongoing strategic initiatives.

This role is based in our Chicago office, where we are operating in a hybrid work environment, in office 3 days/week.
The Role:
The Chicago Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining a workplace environment that enhances productivity, safety, and well-being, while ensuring that Morningstar’s headquarters in downtown Chicago is welcoming, functional, and aligned with the needs of employees, clients and visitors. The Facilities Manager oversees daily operations, manages maintenance schedules, and collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to support our organization’s strategic initiatives and ensure a positive employee experience.
Areas of oversight and responsibility:
Oversee daily operations of a 265,000-square-foot office space in downtown Chicago.
Inspire, guide, mentor, and support outsourced Facilities team members to deliver outstanding service while fostering high engagement.
Collaborate with external service providers to ensure a clean, secure, and productive workplace.
Monitor vendor performance to meet quality standards that align with Morningstar Facilities’ expectations.
Build and maintain relationships with property management, local leadership, and key stakeholders to drive improvements.
Lead and support sustainability initiatives, including reporting on carbon footprint metrics for the Chicago office.
Manage annual and periodic budgeting processes, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines for ongoing and one-time facility expenses.
Play an active role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and testing the business continuity plan and business impact analysis for the Facilities function.
Draft and contribute to communications regarding activities and changes that impact the office, ensuring clear and timely updates to employees.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Facilities Management, with a focus on soft-services delivery and office operations.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in using ticketing systems and related technical tools.
Competence in understanding budgets and analyzing financial data.
Excellent skills in planning, organization, and time management.

Base Salary Compensation Range
$68,652.00 - $116,696.00Total Cash Compensation Range
