General Description:

The Executive Director, Technology & Architecture Services is the principal technology leader for infrastructure, operations, and architecture services at BeiGene. The Executive Director and their team will lead the enhancement and implementation of technology platforms and services while applying principles of innovation and efficiency.

As a member of the GTS Leadership Team, the Executive Director Technology & Architecture Services is an active contributor to developing and executing BeiGene’s technology strategy, defining necessary technology investments, and driving transparency in prioritization and planning. The Executive Director and their team are responsible for ensuring that strategy is fully aligned with business needs, positioning technology services to deliver and realize compelling business value.

The Executive Director closely manages the landscape of technology and solutions used to support business teams. They collaborate with other GTS leaders to identify risks, interdependencies, and opportunities to inform financial responsibility, robust planning, and reliable execution, to ensure adherence to BeiGene’s technology architecture, security & compliance, and system and project life cycle governance.

The successful candidate is a dynamic leader and business relationship manager who brings deep technology strategy and governance domain knowledge with a business-minded approach to running technology projects.  Deep experience in both on premise and cloud/SaaS environments, the ability to manage multiple projects across different functions in a global, geographically diverse environment are all critical success factors for this role. An ideal candidate will adapt communication and problem-solving skills to accommodate customers, partners, and staff to reach consensus, and build stakeholder relationships to ensure the technology landscape is aligned with the company's goals, ensuring it supports growth and innovation.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
  • Establishes and fosters relationships with business stakeholders and service providers
  • Build and drive an operational strategy that meets the needs and requirements of the business and is aligned with global delivery teams
  • Oversee activities relating to the engineering, design, development, implementation, testing and overall technical support to ensure the global IT infrastructure services environment meets the business needs of the company
  • Manage and scale the cloud services and data centers to ensure uptime and manage growth in all BeiGene operating regions
  • Lead & deliver the service capability transformation for cloud and internal systems, with focus on user-experience, resilience, performance, availability, and total cost of ownership
  • Manage all aspect of Infrastructure and Support Services including: Incident Management, Configuration Management, Release Management, Change Management, Service Desk, Service Request Fulfillment, Asset and License Management, Identity Management, etc
  • Partner with the CISO organization to establish and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect company technology assets
  • Manage the technology budget effectively, allocating resources to maximize productivity and innovation
  • Collaborate with other C-suite executives to align technology initiatives with overall business strategies
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage
  • Ensure that the company complies with all relevant regulations and standards related to technology that supports the operations of a modern biopharmaceutical environment

Education Required: 

Masters (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline in combination with relevant experience.

Qualifications:  

  • 14+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, architecture, networking, security and operations
  • 10+ years of proven leadership success at a senior level, directing a team of director-level direct reports and associate-level staff
  • Must have proven business and technology skills relevant to the domain, with success providing customer-oriented technology solutions
  • Demonstrated experience influencing key stakeholders across the organization and within complex contexts
  • In-depth knowledge of biopharmaceutical technology business solutions and their interdependencies
  • Accomplished in building of teams and development of people, comfortable working with a broad cross section of people in direct and matrixed relationships
  • Demonstrated success as a change agent leading significant transformational initiatives in organizations
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Salary Range: $214,500.00 - $294,500.00 annually

BeiGene is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
