A Brief Overview

Directs a portfolio of complex and innovative big data, business intelligence, and data warehouse services and solutions, which span departments and geographies, and in support of business objectives. Leads and manages a team of IT directors and managers; may lead and manage architects, engineers, and developers. Leverages a comprehensive understanding of big data, business intelligence, and data warehousing, knowledge of IT services and solutions, and an in-depth understanding of RGA's business to execute responsibilities.



What you will do

  • Manages multiple complex projects and/or technology initiatives; manages related teams, sets organizational priorities, and allocates resources
  • Performs management responsibilities, including hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports; mentors associates within the department and continually develop project team competencies
  • Seeks-out, develops, and nurtures effective stakeholder relationships; takes ownership for the relationships, ensuring organizational objectives are met
  • Leverages comprehensive understanding of Information Management concepts, theories and principles, and effective knowledge of other IT disciplines; evaluates and implements new services and solutions appropriately
  • Impacts the level of service and the team’s ability to meet quality, delivery, and timeliness objectives; ensures teams performance
  • In consultation with stakeholders, develops and establishes strategic and long-range goals for services and solutions; Is guided by policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent education/ experience required
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) and/or LOMA certification preferred
  • 10+ Years experience in DW, BI, and/ or Big Data (or equivalent) required
  • 2+ Years management and technical leadership and supervisory experience in IT required
  • 2+ Years application portfolio management experience required
  • 10+ Years IT-related experience, including Experience with data movement tools (Ex., IBM’s Data Stage, Informatica, Talend); Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Ex.,Tableau, SAP, MS SSAS, SSRS, MS PowerBI); Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies (Ex., Oracle, SQL server, Vertica, MongoDB, Cassandra, Dynamo DB, Amazon Aurora); Experience with big data architectures, data lakes, and big data ecosystem of tools (Ex., Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Storm, Cloudera, Hbase, HDFS), Experience with software development automated required
  • Wide range of experience with multiple development tools and solution models required
  • Highly advanced project management skills; demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan required
  • In-depth understanding of big data, data warehousing, and/ or business intelligence services and solutions required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of software development required
  • Advanced ability to lead and resolve complex problems, working across broad groups and geographies required
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to guide, influence, and persuade others, as well as influence senior leaders required
  • Advanced communication skills, including ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view required
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge required
  • Microsoft Business Intelligence Technology required
  • AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Tableau, Micro Services, Microsoft HPC, Oracle, PL/SQL, Java TDD, Specflow, Mocha required
  • Python, Scala, R etc required
  • Microsoft Certification Preferred
  • Oracle Certification Preferred
  • Other BI Certifications Preferred

Compensation Range:

$123,500.00 - $184,050.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
