Mercer is seeking qualified candidates for an Executive Compensation Consultant with Oil & Gas industry experience in Calgary.

The Executive Compensation Consultant supports Oil & Gas clients in the design and execution of performance measurement and reward strategies that reinforce business objectives.  This Consultant works with these organizations to identify the financial and people factors that drive value. 

As an Executive Compensation Consultant, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing executive compensation strategies, philosophies and programs that address clients’ attraction and retention needs.

  • Designing financial performance measurement and target-setting systems to support these compensation programs.

  • Structuring, directing, reviewing, and interpreting analyses performed by the project team. Creating and/or reviewing client deliverables.

  • Acting as a lead consultant (1st chair) for numerous Compensation Committees (either management or board side).

  • Developing compensation strategies, philosophies and programs that address clients' attraction and retention needs.

  • Providing consulting services to senior management on a variety of remuneration issues, including competitiveness of pay, performance measurement, and governance and regulatory implications.

  • Providing consulting services on broader Human Capital issues to C-suite audiences.

  • Generating revenue through development of new client relationships and building and maintaining strong client relationships.

  • Providing, mentoring and guidance to team members.

We will count on you to:

  • Have a minimum of 12-15 years of relevant work experience in Executive Compensation within a consulting firm or large corporate environment in the Oil & Gas industry.

  • Provide consulting services on broader Human Capital issues and/or market trends in the Oil & Gas industry.

  • Recognize and identify business development/sales opportunities.

  • Interact with and advise board level and C-suite executives on a regular basis.

  • Oversee and be accountable for all deliverables created by the client team.

  • Design short-term and long-term incentive programs that reinforce the clients' strategic objectives.

What you need to have: 

  • BA/BS degree

  • Experience consulting with Oil & Gas companies on Executive Compensation.

Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $148,200 to $245,800.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
