ADG also provides and supports prevention, education, and treatment programs for people and families affected by problem gambling through its Division of Problem Gambling.

Job Summary:

Support Arizona’s Gaming Integrity from the Front Lines of Licensing

The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) is seeking a highly organized and detail-focused Intake Officer to support the licensing and certification process for the Event Wagering, Fantasy Sports, and Tribal Gaming programs. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of regulatory documentation and plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the State’s gaming oversight processes.

As an Intake Officer, you will perform complex technical regulatory work, assist applicants and stakeholders, and serve as a key point of contact between the Department and the gaming community. This is an ideal role for a professional with a strong administrative background and a passion for detail, regulation, and public service.

Your Impact:

  • Support licensure and certification processes for employees, businesses, key principals, and suppliers.
  • Act as a liaison between ADG and stakeholders, including Tribal Gaming Offices, Event Wagering and Fantasy Sports Operators, and the public.
  • Interpret and apply relevant state statutes, administrative codes, and Compact provisions to regulatory documents and applications.
  • Ensure regulatory databases are updated with accurate records for licenses, certifications, and correspondence.
  • Assist in processing investigative materials, fingerprints, and licensing documentation with confidentiality and precision.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

As the EWFS Licensing Intake Officer you will:

  • Perform technical regulatory reviews of applications and supporting documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Organize and process applications for licensure and certification for employees, businesses, and key principals.
  • Maintain liaison responsibilities with Tribal Gaming Offices, Event Wagering and Fantasy Sports Operators, and Suppliers.
  • Enter data, process billing, and maintain complete and accurate records in the department’s regulatory database.
  • Create correspondence and initiate application processing, renewals, and updates for certification and licensing.
  • Collaborate with special agents and investigative teams to process background materials and fingerprint data.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and the public to clarify licensing and certification requirements.
  • Support the Event Wagering and Fantasy Sports Licensing Supervisor and management team in regulatory functions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Arizona Revised Statutes Title 5, Chapters 10 and 11
  • Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact sections and Appendices
  • Trends and laws related to gaming, Event Wagering, and Fantasy Sports
  • State and federal regulatory programs and procedures
  • Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Salesforce 
  • Best practices in document tracking, records management, and regulatory compliance

Skills in:

  • Gathering and analyzing information for regulatory review
  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks independently and effectively
  • Processing applications and certifications with attention to legal and technical accuracy
  • Building positive working relationships with Tribal entities, stakeholders, vendors, law enforcement, and agency staff
  • Conferring and coordinating with local, state, and national stakeholders

Ability to:

  • Perform complex regulatory duties with precision and timeliness
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases, billing records, and investigative materials
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with diverse audiences
  • Handle confidential information and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Follow detailed verbal and written instructions to complete administrative tasks efficiently
  • Represent the Department in a professional and customer-focused manner
Selective Preference(s):
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Position requires high level of computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, and database software experience
  • Experience with the Arizona Management System (AMS)/ Lean Six Sigma preferred
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

Retirement:

To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will contribute to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27-week wait period for contributions to begin.
