Estimator (Architectural Millwork)

Hours: (full-time, 40 hrs/wk) M-Th, 8 am – 5 pm | Fr, 8 am – 2:30 pm
The Estimator at Digifabshop is responsible for leading the timely, accurate and thorough preparation of the company’s architectural woodwork and metalwork project proposals.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Estimate projects and components following established company processes
- Issue articulate RFI’s ,RFP’s and RFQ’s to interested parties
- Assess RFQ/RFP responses and assist in buy/build outsourcing decisions
- Vendor research
- Takeoffs
- Prepare and present bid packages to management
- Project handoff with project management and production teams
- Interface with project and production managers while projects are produced
- Change order tracking
- Provide improvement recommendations to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
- Knowledge of building materials as well as experience in architectural woodwork, millwork, metalwork or store fixture trades
- Experience with Autocad
- Experience in reading architectural and fabricator shop drawings, as well as understanding of written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
- Effectively conveys accurate information to Senior Management, Team Leaders, and other shop employees in a diplomatic manner
- Excellent written communication skills
- Uses basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to solve problems as well as a working knowledge of fractions, decimals, and standard-to-metric conversion
- Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Understands the visual-spatial translation of 2D drawings to 3D objects as it relates to Digifabshop’s project work
- Manages and coordinates work assignments in relation to deadlines
- Gives full attention to what other people are saying, takes time to understand the points being made, asks questions as appropriate
- Proficient in MS word, MS Excel, and Google Docs
- Proficient in use of electronic communication such as email, chat, and cloud-based collaborative platforms
Physical Requirements:
- Near Vision - The ability to identify details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Maintain Stationary Position – The ability to sit continuously for up to 2 hours at a time
- Occasional Light Lifting – The ability to lift up to 25lbs from time-to-time
