ESG Analyst (Remote)

Job Description
The ESG Analyst will be a support role in the ESG team working across all pillars in the department and reporting to the Sr. Manager, Strategy & Operations. Main responsibilities include analyzing and reporting on the company’s ESG initiatives as well as hands on support for specific projects within ESG initiatives. This role involves collecting and interpreting data related to environmental and social sustainability, supporting program management across the department and creating processes to effectively manage and analyze large data sets. The Analyst, ESG will also support a wide range of ESG initiatives from the corporate GHG footprint to responses for external stakeholder or industry group surveys, to maintaining reports on supplier performance.
Responsibilities:
Project management
Lead key pieces of programs in strategy & operations, responsible sourcing, environmental sustainability, product sustainability and ESG disclosure workstreams. Projects will include:
- Manage the team calendar of projects and deliverables, updating throughout the year as cross-functional partners and the ESG team adjust timing or project scope.
- Oversee reporting on responsible sourcing by managing up to date insights on relevant suppliers across Nordstrom’s business units.
- Develop and manage a process to collect monthly water and waste data, supporting analytical needs to determine performance across Nordstrom’s facilities.
- Track water management policies at the municipal level.
- Manage the preferred fibers certification library for Nordstrom’s private label brands and oversee the verification process with Bureau Veritas.
- Own the analysis of CDP Supply Chains data to support GHG scope 3 accounting and brand partner engagement.
- Drive brand partner communications for ESG initiatives like Higg BRM, CDP Supply Chains
Data analysis
- Collect, analyze, and report data on energy usage, waste management and water consumption.
- Support the corporate GHG footprint process, collecting and organizing large data sets. Work closely with ESG colleagues, internal stakeholders and external consultants to deliver data.
- Analyze Nordstrom’s private label consumption of fibers, tracking use of preferred fibers and managing the annual reporting required for Better Cotton and Textile Exchange.
- Working with colleagues across the team, support data collection, analysis and organization for the annual Impact Report.
- Conduct research on environmental and social impact trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, International Development, Sustainability, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in sustainability analysis or a related role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
