Summary

Employment Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation: Starting at $87,000- $106,500 per year less statutory deductions

Work Location: This position is remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent internet service.

Travel: 2-3 times/year for company events

As an Epic Business Intelligence Developer, you will play a crucial role in creating analytics content for end users and third parties who require Epic data. Your work will include triaging data requests, configuring and testing Epic’s analytics tools, creating content to display Epic data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle, and distributing analytics content to data consumers. You will contribute to the success of our health system partners by ensuring the optimal performance, accuracy, and accessibility of their Epic data.

Responsibilities

Technical Specifications 

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and business intelligence solutions.  

  • Work with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers. 

  • Collaborate across applications on integrated solutions, avoiding operational silos.  

  • Review designs, present drafts, and validate results. 

  • Participate in planning and problem-solving discussions with Epic application teams. 

 

Insight Visualization and Epic Data Display 

  • Create content to display Epic data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle. 

  • Maintain the Analytics Catalog and associated metadata records. 

  • Modify existing reports, as necessary. 

  • Create reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.  

  • Present insights in a clear and actionable manner.  

  • Distribute analytics content to data consumers. 

 

Data Tooling and Optimization 

  • Build and maintain Extracts, SlicerDicer custom filters, third-party BI tools, and Epic data in Caboodle, as necessary.  

  • Configure and test Epic-released and Foundation System content, including Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar, and Cogito SQL. 

  • Test analytics build in a specified testing environment and volume test in live environments. 

  • Ensure optimal performance, accuracy, and accessibility of Epic data.  

 

Support and Troubleshooting 

  • Deliver high-quality support in accordance with contracted SLAs. 

  • Assist in troubleshooting during integrated testing and validation. 

  • Audit data, track, and resolve reporting-related issues. 

  • Provide thorough documentation of build changes, tasks, and projects. 

  • Review upgrade documentation and determine how to implement the changes. 

  • Adhere to change control processes, maintaining system integrity and compliance. 

  • Partner with trainers to support organizational training initiatives around data and analytics.  

 

General 

  • Manage small projects and complete assigned deliverables. 

  • Participate in meetings, reviews, and design sessions. 

  • Stay current with Epic certifications and application knowledge. 

  • Comply with all HIPAA policies, procedures, and training requirements. 

Required & Desired Skills

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Current Epic certification in Cogito Fundamentals, Clarity Data Model, and Caboodle Data Model 

  • 3+ years of experience with Epic analytics tools.  

  • User-focused design and data visualization skills. 

  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts. 

  • Proficiency and demonstrated experience with analytics tools. 

  • Familiarity with Epic applications and database structure. 

  • A successful track record supporting Epic system enhancements and upgrades. 

  • Proficient in troubleshooting and effectively tracking and resolving issues. 

  • Proven ability to follow change control and testing procedures. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.  

  • Comfortable working both independently and in teams. 

  • Able to prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines, and manage small projects. 

  • Knowledge of the healthcare workflows related to Epic applications.  

  • Able to provide on-call support during scheduled times, if required. 

 

Desired Skills and Experience 

  • Completion of Radar SQL Metrics, SlicerDicer Custom Build, and Cogito SQL badges. 

  • Experience with data visualization tools, ideally Tableau. 

  • A degree in computer sciences, math, information systems, or statistics. 

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools. 

  • Experience partnering with trainers to support organizational training initiatives. 

  • Ability to facilitate productive discussions and contribute valuable insights during collaborative sessions.
