Job Summary:

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Environmental Protection Unit is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented energy expert to play a vital role in addressing pressing environmental issues impacting Arizona’s communities and resources as an Environmental/Energy Specialist. In this dynamic role, you will directly support our attorneys in pursuing complex environmental litigation aimed at safeguarding Arizona’s environment.
A passion for environmental law, energy policy, and a strong desire to protect Arizona’s environment are essential. Experience and/or knowledge of energy policy and environmental issues is preferred. NYU pays the salaries of the fellow, but the fellow's sole duty of loyalty is to the attorney general in whose office they serve. All work performed by the fellows is entirely identified and managed by the respective government official.

Remote Options: This position may be eligible for partial remote work based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

 

Job Duties:

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to timely and accurate preparation of a wide variety of reports, memos and briefings. Research of Arizona environmental and energy issues. Track state and national policies and provide technical analysis as needed. Other tasks as outlined by AZ Attorney General Mayes and direct supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

KNOWLEDGE
Deep expertise in energy/environmental policy.
Understanding of the attorney/client relationship including the need for confidentiality and discretion.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity.

SKILLS
Skilled in researching and extracting information from statutes, codes, legal documents, court decisions and scientific journals.
Work well in a challenging and fast-paced environment, respond well to changing priorities and regularly demonstrate a professional, positive and supportive attitude.
Project management experience desired.

ABILITIES
Ability to track multiple environmental/energy policies/projects.
Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records.
Ability to organize, prioritize and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Selective Preference(s):

Experience and/or knowledge of energy and environmental issues is preferred. Master's Degree preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree required.

Travel is required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
