Engineering Manager, Trust & Safety

GameChanger Remote - US

About GameChanger:

We believe in the life-changing impact youth sports have on and off the field because they encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence—important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By building the first and best place to experience the youth sports moments important to our community, we are helping families elevate the next generation through youth sports.

So if you love sports and their community-building potential, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote-first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and we are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.

The Position:

GameChanger’s applications allow for collaboration within team communities, helping families, coaches, and players connect with one another. Additionally, these communities have recorded over 6 million hours of gameday video content, which resides in our platform. While we’re offering great service to our teams, the potential for misuse pose risks to the positive experiences we help create. We want to provide more support and tools that help teams manage the safety of their communities, so that they can focus on the rich connections within those communities.

As an Engineering Manager, you will build and lead a team of software developers crafting capabilities into our applications that protect the data and communities of users we support. You will become a subject-matter expert on the controls your team establishes, to ensure acceptable use of our platform. With this expertise along with a strong partnership with Product Manager and Design counterparts, you will discover valuable capabilities that your team will deliver to customers.

  • Advocate for trust and safety of our customer communities throughout the organization.

  • Help to feed context (and guide engineers on how to access it themselves) to engineers, so they can be truly empowered to make decisions.

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of critical safety features used by millions of users.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A passion for customer centricity and advocating for solutions that customers value.

  • Natural curiosity and bias for exploration, to learn what is possible, outside the scope of what currently exists.

  • Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers, striking the balance of strong support and guidance.

  • A strong track record of driving successful product discovery and delivery.

  • A knack for creating systems and policies that help protect data.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • At least 2 years as a technical lead or engineering manager.

  • At least 2 years of experience working on a team that handles user-generated content.

  • At least 3 years of AWS experience.

You Might Even Have:

  • Experience in building controls for the management of user-generated content.

  • Skills and techniques used to build online community engagement.

  • Familiarity with information security compliance models (ISO, SOC 2, NIST, etc.).

Perks:
