Company: Veruna, Inc.

Role: Engineering Manager – Platform and QA Automation

Reports to: VP of Engineering

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Remote

Job Description:

The Engineering Manager - Platform and QA Automation is responsible for overseeing the strategy and execution of our Cloud Provisioning experience and Product Quality for both internal and customer-facing deployments. You will be accountable for improving the developer experience and customer experience around test-driven/behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD), continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure provisioning, product deployment, and QA automation. The individual will need to be customer-focused, think of everything-as-code, have high-quality standards, problem-solve to automate challenging processes, and excel at collaborating across teams within the organization.

You Are:

  • An empathetic leader and player-coach who fosters collaboration, problem-solving, and empowers high-performing teams.

  • Love to invent. You have grit, determination and resiliency and are determined to get there.

  • Always learning. You want to be a pro in bleeding-edge platform and automation tech, including generative AI, CI/CD tooling, TDD/BDD, and QA automation frameworks.

  • Appreciative of direct communication. You’re an active communicator and an eager listener – after all, one doesn’t work without the other. You handle candid feedback with ease and view every setback as a chance to learn and improve.

  • Adaptable and have a desire to learn. With the ever-evolving nature of Cloud Platforms and Automation, our priorities and tools shift as well. What you worked on last month might not be what you’re tackling today, and that excites you.

  • Possessing a “can do” attitude. Our teams produce top-notch work on fast timelines. Tackling a problem head-on doesn’t intimidate you; it motivates you to take full ownership and drive our mission forward.

  • Wanting to be part of and build a winning team. We’re stronger together, and you’re a person who embraces being pushed out of your comfort zone and coaching others to do the same.

  • A data-driven decision-maker. Data and metrics bring visibility to how platforms, people, and processes operate. You seek out and know how to story-tell with data to illustrate how your team’s efforts impact our employees and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage platform engineering and quality engineering teams to guide the development and deployment of QA frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, services, and infrastructure across Salesforce ISV packages, web applications, REST APIs, and AI.

  • Contribute to and take ownership of processes and QA automation tools that drive engineering quality and meet our engineering SLAs.

  • Provide strong technical leadership, build empowered autonomous teams, and coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate our vision into a tangible technical roadmap quarterly. Break down complex projects into smaller chunks and lead the iterative design and implementation process. Explain the benefits and progress using data.

  • Be a thoughtful technical voice within the organization, aiding in deep architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality solutions and engineering processes. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Support teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of single-tenant, multi-tenant, and distributed systems at scale.

  • Work closely with our talent organization to identify and recruit exceptional engineers who align with Veruna’s culture and contribute to our products.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, data science, natural sciences or equivalent career experience required.

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, platform automation, and/or QA automation.

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience.

  • 2+ years of experience developing and deploying cloud software on top of Salesforce or other large enterprise platforms.

  • 5+ years of experience developing or deploying cloud software with public cloud providers: Microsoft Azure, GCP (Google Cloud Platform), AWS (Amazon Web Services).

  • Demonstrated experience building and operating critical, high-traffic infrastructure, including proficiency with data analysis (customer usage and service-specific metrics, logs, and traces), scaling, and proactively addressing security, performance, and reliability concerns.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining high software quality standards by instituting QA automation processes, tools, training, and engineering culture.

  • Skilled at balancing long-term strategic vision with immediate planning and delivery.

  • Experience in creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale.

  • Hands-on when needed – whether that’s writing/reviewing code or technical documents, participating in or leading incidents, or triaging/troubleshooting bugs and processes.

  • Highly Skilled with: Apex or C# or Java, Python, CumulusCI, SQL & NoSQL databases, synthetic test data scripting, MS Azure, GitHub Actions, Docker or other containers, Jest, RPA and/or QA automation frameworks.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Experience with CI/CD automation pipelines and frameworks to automate complex build, test, package, deploy scenarios for both multi-tenant distributed systems and large-scale single-tenant deployments. Deep knowledge of concepts such as modularization, containerization, elasticity, and high availability.

  • Experience with Test-Driven-Development (TDD) or Behavior-Driven-Development (BDD) and automating unit testing, performance testing, API and web testing.

  • Experience at a start-up or rapidly growing organization

  • Experience building systems in highly regulated industries, such as finance, insurance, or healthcare for highly available and secure systems.
