The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division within the Ministry of Technology and Innovation (TI) leads the development of the next generation of digital public services for the GoA. DDD partners with other departments to deliver products, platforms and services that are better, faster and easier, through modern user-centered agile processes. DDD offers potential candidates a unique opportunity to work on meaningful challenges that transform government and positively impact Albertans.  

The Engagement branch within DDD is accountable for engaging with GoA ministries and stakeholders to identify opportunities to transform government services to better serve Albertans. The branch partners with ministries to identify and shape digital service transformation opportunities and develop Ministry Digital Roadmaps.

Role Responsibilities

The Engagement branch is looking for an Engagement Specialist to support the digital redesign of government services using agile delivery approaches by building and maintaining relationships through ongoing engagement. This position reports to the Ministry Engagement Lead.

The responsibilities of this role includes:

  • Working with key ministry partners, cross functional teams and stakeholders to encourage the exchange of information, ideas, or innovation, and to promote an atmosphere of shared effort to understand user needs that aligns to ministry business plans and commitments.
  • Engaging ministry partners to deliver digital services to Albertans with a Citizen Centric Approach (e.g., Product Delivery Model, Agile delivery approaches, Human Centered Design).
  • Conducting research on innovative trends in key business value chains and how emerging and advanced technologies are addressing trends that may improve GoA services.
  • Helping modernize government service delivery by promoting emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Mobile Applications, Universal Design, Cloud and other modern approaches to ministry partners. 
  • Identifying and defining innovative opportunities for digital transformation to improve and deliver GoA services.
  • Working with other divisional cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and confirm GoA service opportunities.
  • Facilitating pre-discovery activities alongside ministry partners to better understand and articulate the opportunities available to support ministries in service innovation.
  • Documenting and developing opportunities, business cases, Negotiated Request for Proposals, status reports and other artifacts as required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • University degree in a related field such as Commerce, Arts, or Technology. 
  • Two (2) years of related progressively responsible experience.
  • Experience in consultation and engagement with senior management.
  • Experience leading complex projects and engagements or change management initiatives.

Equivalencies:

  • A two-year diploma in a related field plus four (4) years related experience.
  • A one-year certificate in a related field plus five (5) years related experience.

Assets:

  • Experience in user-centered digital delivery.
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery approaches.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong facilitation and consultation skills, working with diverse audiences.
  • Well-developed analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Well-developed teamwork and collaboration skills, working with cross-functional teams.

Term of Employment: Permanent, Full-time position    

Hours of Work:  7.25 hours daily / 36.25 weekly – Monday to Friday

Location: Remote across Alberta

This position is eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
