The Opportunity:

Your role at Sephora: 
As an Employee Relations Partner – Distribution Centers (DCs), you will facilitate and help manage employee relations for Sephora’s DCs and act as a neutral intermediary between employees and leaders. Reporting to an Employee Relations Manager, and working closely with the VP, HR Distribution Center Organization, you will work with people leaders and cross-functional business partners in the area of escalated employee performance management, involuntary terminations, employee engagement, employee concerns, mediated conversations, listening sessions, and climate surveys. You will be responsible for formalizing the ER function by capturing metrics and data points, ensuring consistent processes across locations, providing updates to business and HR leaders and recommendations on areas of opportunity. You will have the flexibility to think creatively and out of the box on process efficiencies and strategic initiatives involving our employees and leaders.

 

  • Conduct and lead escalated investigations with guidance from the ER Manager by gathering and analyzing facts, and applying past practices, local, state and federal laws and regulations, and Sephora’s policies, procedures, code of conduct, etc. to reach satisfactory and final resolution.
  • Work closely with ER Managers and Sr. Director, Employee Relations/Employee Experience to manage and resolve possible conflicts related to employment practices at Sephora.
  • Develop and maintain close partnership with DC HR team to drive forward business strategy and objectives.
  • Assist in managing escalated employee performance concerns and misconduct, including warnings, Performance Improvement Plans and terminations.
  • Provide counsel and advise on risk to DC HR team on involuntary separations, including Position Eliminations and Reductions in Force.  Escalate concerns to ER Manager.
  • Enhance overall DC culture and drive proactive employee relations and engagement, including in-person DC visits, climate surveys, and listening sessions. (~25% travel requirement.)
  • Assist in creating insights from data to inform and shape ER process, program improvements, and share findings with key partners to develop and deliver a plan which links to HR strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, in collaboration with ER Manager, Sr. Director ER/EE, and internal employment counsel.

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 6+ progressive HR/ER experience; minimum 2-3 years direct ER experience; prior distribution center HR/ER experience required.
  • JD or legal background a plus.
  • Exemplary issue resolution skills with the ability to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization; prior experience with interacting, coaching and counseling Executives is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment law (multi-state), compliance, employee relations required.
  • Subject matter knowledge of ADA and leave of absence laws required.
  • Prior experience with case management systems helpful.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and balancing multiple escalated cases.
  • Highly collaborative style, ability to coach and counsel, and willingness and demonstrated ability to work in teams and build strong partnerships.
  • Ability to multi-task and be action oriented; exercise independent judgement and decision-making.
  • Ability to effectively work with ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior labor relations experience preferred.
  • Sound judgment and discretion; able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Position is remote with a strong preference for candidate who resides within 1 hour of any of the below DC locations. Approximately 25% travel required to DC locations. The candidate will have greater connectivity to Sephora’s business strategy, DC operations, and culture if living in this proximity to one of the distribution centers:

  • Las Vegas, Nevada                                                                                            -      Perryman, Maryland (25 miles from Baltimore)
  • Salt Lake City, Utah                                                                                           -      Belcamp, Maryland (30 miles from Newark, DE)
  • Olive Branch, Mississippi (near Memphis, Tennessee)

 

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,000.00 - $130,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
