Employee Relations HR Advisor - (part time)
Remote, United Kingdom
Company Description
Who are we?
We’re Reach, home to some of the UK and Ireland’s most iconic media brands – think the Mirror, Daily Express, OK!, as well as regional titles like the Birmingham Post, Liverpool Echo, and Manchester Evening News. With a readership of 47 million people each month, we’re the largest commercial publisher in the UK. But we’re more than just our brands – we’re a company built on collaboration, imagination, and determination. Our values shape the work we do every day, and we’re committed to creating an environment where everyone feels supported, valued, and able to grow. We prioritise flexibility and work-life balance, making it easier for you to thrive both in and outside of work.
At Reach, we know how important work-life balance and family commitments are, and we’re all about creating a supportive environment that works for you. One of our team members is returning from maternity leave on a part-time schedule (Monday to Thursday mornings), and we’re thrilled to have them back!
Now, we’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a part-time HR Advisor to join us. You’ll be working 21 hours per week, from Tuesday to Friday, 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM - the perfect role if you're looking for flexibility while making a real impact.
Job Description
What you'll be doing:
As an HR Advisor at Reach, you’ll play a key role in providing professional, proactive, and confidential guidance to employees and business stakeholders. Your expertise will be crucial in aligning with company policies and UK&I employment laws, safeguarding employees, and mitigating business risks. You’ll manage your own caseload, dealing with a wide range of employee relations matters such as disciplinary actions, grievances, performance issues, and absence management.
The role will require you to work across a remote, diverse workforce of around 4,000 employees, advising and supporting colleagues and stakeholders with HR best practices. You’ll also be involved in developing and implementing HR policies that positively impact the organisation. It’s a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where your up-to-date knowledge of employee law will be put to use daily, as well as your ability to manage multiple cases and build effective relationships across the business.
Qualifications
What you'll need to succeed:
We’re looking for someone with solid experience in employee relations, disciplinary actions, grievances, performance management, absence, and restructures. If you’ve successfully managed your own caseload from start to finish and handled sensitive HR matters, this could be the role for you. You’ll need to be confident in offering advice that aligns with UK&I employment law and company policies, and you should be comfortable challenging situations when needed.
Building relationships quickly with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels is key, and you should be adept at providing trusted HR advice. Being able to plan, prioritise, and manage your caseload efficiently is essential to ensuring an excellent HR service for the business. While not essential, experience working with trade unions or participating in tribunals would be a plus.
