Job Summary

The Electrical Project Applications Engineer is a mid-level role focused on designing and deploying innovative power equipment solutions. Collaborating with Business Development, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams across multiple offices—as well as third-party vendors—you will deliver exceptional results for clients. This hybrid position offers flexibility, starting with primarily remote work and transitioning to in-office requirements over time.

  

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

  • Perform electrical analyses, including short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using software like SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or Easy Power.
  • Develop project deliverables such as single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, block diagrams, and installation details.
  • Prepare equipment specifications, elevation drawings, and panel designs.
  • Conduct 3D laser scanning and create electrical models using Autodesk, SolidWorks, or Bentley Microstation.

Project Support

  • Collaborate with project managers to address engineering challenges and provide innovative solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports with actionable recommendations for upgrades, safety improvements, and efficiency enhancements.
  • Participate in site walkdowns, lead client meetings, and assist with procurement processes.

Codes & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with UL standards (891, 1558, 508), IEEE, NFPA, and NEMA      requirements (Types 1 & 3R).

Business Development

  • Support bid walkdowns and assist with proposal development for projects up to $100K in capital expenditures.
  • Engage with clients to provide technical insights during both early and detailed engineering phases.

  

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in power systems design, focusing on switchboards, switchgear, motor control centers, and low- and medium-voltage breakers.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Autodesk, SolidWorks, or Bentley Microstation, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Revu Bluebeam, Autodesk BIM 360, and Autodesk Electrical (preferred).
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, meeting facilitation, and collaboration across project phases (conceptual to commissioning).

Physical Requirements

This job involves both indoor and outdoor work. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Lift, carry, and/or move up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
  • Climb ladders, staircases, and step stools, as well as stand, walk, sit, and operate vehicles for extended periods.               Occasionally, the employee may need to:
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including intense heat, cold, and wet environments.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing.

  

Work Environment & Travel

  • Hybrid Work Model: 100% remote during the first year, transitioning to 70% remote and 30% in-office by the second year.
  • Travel: Up to 50% in the first year, reducing to 30% in subsequent years, depending on resources.

  

Tools & Equipment Provided

  • Office equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Laser scanning tools for fieldwork.
