EH&S Operations Support Manager (Northern California) - San Francisco, CA, United States

I. Job Summary
Serves as support person for Sustainability Services Territory or Vertical. Activities include: implementation of new contracts, assisting with special projects, EH&S and staffing existing contracts as needed. May also assist Business Development and Territory/Vertical Managers with site walks, proposal development and contract renewals. Significant travel is required (90%+).

This position is remote however the individual must live in Northern California. This position does require significant travel/on-site work in the area.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads.   
  • Manages and consults with Market Area and Site leaders on Drive Cam System Management. This includes, analysis, reporting, coaching, interventions and may include ride alongs with site managers and or front-line drivers.
  • Works with Area Safety Manager/Director to gather and collate appropriate data into EH&S portal. Conducts/reviews root cause analysis and ensures follow up action plans are established and works with site leadership to disseminate lessons learned. Works with People team on application of safety policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and revises job risk assessments to identify required PPE and other mitigations. Audit processes to verify PPE being used correctly. Communicates changes and updates of PPE requirements to Site Leadership. Works with Site Leadership to implement the site-specific PPE Program based on the corporate template.
  • Consult with client and prospective clients to identify, design and implement cost saving opportunities and proposals.
  • Works closely with Corporate and Site level leadership to ensure compliance with Federal, State/Provincial DOT/OSHA regulations as they pertain to WM operational requirements. Works closely with internal and external Subject Matter Experts to ensure WM is in adherence to all required standards and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with client and government regulations by performing necessary inspections and reporting. Resolve all issues in a timely manner. 
  • Administer client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts. 
  • Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes:

  • Direct supervision of approximately 0 to 5 full-time operations level employees.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Must live and work in the US.
  
A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business or related field, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant experience.  
  • Experience: Seven (7) years of relevant experience (in addition to education requirement).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience required.
  • OSHA 24-Hour HAZWOPER Certification required.
  • TWIC Card or the ability to obtain one prior to starting.
  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements. Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.
  • Preferred - CDL holder, OSHA 30 hour, OSHA 511, or ASP.

V. Work Environment

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day;

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the work day;
  • Normal setting for this job is: indoor and outdoor with frequent visits to sites.
  • Travel is required to operating sites on a frequent and regular basis. Must be able to work varied and extended hours.

The expected salary range for this position is $104,500 - $127,375. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a 15% annual target bonus.
