About the Team/Role

The EDI (electronic data interchange) Developer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing files between the benefitexpress system and outside vendors, clients, and brokers as well as internal reporting. EDI Developer are responsible for analyzing various specifications to work in conjunction with reports, interfaces, and mappings provided by data-trading partners. They coordinate and work with internal teams to complete EDI testing, implementations, and modifications of EDI files.

An EDI Developer's primary responsibilities include establishing contact with trading partners, analyzing data, configuration of file feeds, developing and debugging reporting, complex SQL writing, including creation and maintenance of stored procedures and data analysis and manipulation. Key responsibilities include analyzing the data exchanged with any partners, observing data records to record errors, and correcting any failures. EDI developers work with internal teams at all levels of the organization to support accurate, proper data exchanges within the organization. They assist with any testing to observe and interpret messages received.

How you'll make an impact

  • Obtain EDI file specifications, File encryption and transmission information from the carrier.

  • Research, analyze, and understand data elements in benefitexpress systems, as well as inbound and outbound carrier and payroll systems.

  • Develop mapping and translations between data elements for file feeds (e.g., account structure).

  • Develop 834 and proprietary EDI files from benefitexpress systems to carrier and payroll systems using XSLT

  • Coordinate and test EDI feeds with external vendors.

  • Establish and set up file transfer protocols or other various means of connection with outside vendors.

  • Develop and debug standard or custom system SQL reports.

  • Develop, review, and optimize complex SQL code.

  • Write and debug import, export, or enrollment logic processing steps in SQL code.

  • Develop code for file system imports.

  • Map and load indicative and eligibility files from external vendors into proprietary ACA system module.

  • Code extra enrollment questions for employee benefits enrollment flow.

Experience you'll bring

  • Bachelor's Degree with two years of programming experience.

  • Experience working with SQL Server, XML, XSLT, Cold Fusion, Visual Studio, 834 files, Sub Version, SFTP, SSH, BizTalk 2006/2010.

  • An understanding of file layouts and testing output including mapping and translations.

  • Knowledge of EDI concepts – including File Transfer Protocols, Encryption and Transmission methods, Flat files, HIPAA Standards, ANSI 834 file format, File testing methods, Data Reconciliations process.

  • Advanced SQL writing and optimization skills including SELECT, UPDATE, and DELETE queries.

  • Experienced in advanced Excel skills, especially in the use of formulas and VLOOKUPs, and experience with Access, XML, JavaScript and text files a plus.

  • FTP Networking.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Pay Range: $68,000.00 - $90,000.00 Apply
