A Day In The Life

The document specialist will provide legal document and software support to our lawyers and legal administrative staff. This remote position may require working afternoons or weekends, but will follow a set schedule to accommodate a growing team.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Creating various legal document including leases, prospectuses, agreements, letters, memos, litigation documents, etc. through copy typing, transcription and other methods;

  • Coach users via helpline support on many desktop applications;
  • Convert documents to Firm standards in Word and ensure that proper and consistent formatting is applied;
  • Create and revise Excel files inclusive of creating and converting charts from Excel into images for insertion into Word or other files;
  • Create PowerPoint presentations, including creative slide transitions and animation;
  • Scan documents using optical character reader (“OCR”) software and formatting into firm standard documents;
  • Create, convert and scan document to .pdf (portable document format);
  • Scan photos and images for insertion into Word and PowerPoint;
  • Download files (including images and logos) from the web and other sources;
  • CD creation & copying using various software as available;
  • Database maintenance – when time permits;
  • Proofread and correction of work;
  • Full proficiency in utilizing the advanced features of various software packages including formatting text, tables, mail merges, headers/footers and desktop publishing;
  • Perform all other related tasks, as required;

Must Haves 

  • Education in a legal or business administration program;
  • Experience in legal or business administration environment;
  • Advanced training and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Visio, etc.;
  • Experience in a document production environment;
  • In-depth knowledge of all software applications used within firm;
  • Knowledge and experience in a professional services firm (legal, accounting, consulting) and corporate organizational structure;

Compensation

The typical salary range for this position is $50,000 - $80,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.
