WHO ARE WE?

Disability Management Institute (DMI) offers small and medium sized employers flexible innovative solutions to their disability management needs. Our specialties include: WCB/WSIB Claims Management, Self-Funded Sick Leave Adjudication, and Non Occupational Absence Management, Return to Work Planning, Disability Management, and STD, MTD, and LTD Claims Management. Ranging in size from 5-2500 employees our clients span the public and private sectors and cover a wide range of industries. 

YOUR ROLE

The Disability Management Co-Op is an opportunity for students to gain exposure to a wide array of disability management services. Individuals serving in the role will provide administrative and customer service support and will learn about all DMI’s lines of business. This is a remote opportunity in Canada for a 4-month summer term.

WHAT TO EXPECT

By the end of the term, you will:

  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and builds/maintains excellent relationships with clients and various stakeholders
  • Ensure >95% accuracy with respect to administrative tasks
  • Consistently adhere to documented turn-around times
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure that the Outlook mailboxes are managed appropriately
  • Understand functioning of core systems: WEBS, BCMS Pro, and DMS
  • Understand DMI core service lines and can successfully triage inquiries to the appropriate teams

YOUR IMPACT

  • Responsible for monitoring emails and faxes within the assigned administrative mailbox on a consistent basis
  • Determine the appropriate service required and setup of new file along with assignment
  • Complete file transition to claims teams and external carriers when required
  • Provides ongoing file support through document management, invoice payment, and appropriately relays any communication sent to the assigned administrative mailbox
  • Review information received and identify inaccuracies or missing information to relay to the individual assigned to the file.
  • Review policy information to confirm insurance coverage for each new file created
  • Ensures that guidelines are followed, so that all relevant file information from documents received is accurately charted and entered into the appropriate fields in the proprietary disability management system
  • Utilizes internal naming conventions to appropriately name documentation while ensuring same is uploaded to the appropriate file
  • Actions all emails received and/or forwards to appropriate individual or team to reply when required
  • Actions all voicemails received and in certain cases returns calls to obtain further information to ensure caller is sent to the appropriate individual or team
  • Assists with providing coverage for incoming calls and other team members as needed
  • Communicates in a professional manner with all outside contacts, ensuring that only allowable information is released to recognized recipients by adhering to the requirements of the company’s Privacy Policy and the Confidentiality Policy
  • Contacts file stakeholders including employees and employers to gather necessary information and provide updates
  • May assist with case management and return to work planning tasks dependent on business needs

THIS IS YOU

  • Post-secondary students in any year of study, preferably in health-related fields
  • Prior administrative experience preferred
  • Team oriented skills

YOUR COMPENSATION

 At the time of this posting, the estimated hourly pay range is $19-$21 per hour. Individual compensation within this range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education/training. This range reflects the annual base salary only pay and does not encompass our comprehensive total rewards, benefits, and potential bonuses that we proudly offer.
