ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Director of Data Science on our Data Engineering team, you will own driving innovation through automation and machine learning applications that enhance our services for customers and consumers. We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Director of Data Science to lead our data science initiatives at GOBankingRates. This role is pivotal, you will bring a wealth of experience in data science, and proven leadership skills in building and managing high-performing teams. With expertise in machine learning and digital marketing, you'll have a strong track record of driving business impact through data-driven strategies and innovative solutions. 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Design and lead data modeling practices and frameworks; develop and implement complex models to drive financial and business decisions.
• Own the Data Science strategy to prioritize high-impact opportunities aligned with company goals.
• Recruit, develop, and lead data science teams to create innovative machine learning applications serving our customers.
• Spearhead the evolution and expansion of the EYE Platform to improve digital ad conversion and performance across key KPIs.
• Translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations for business and product improvement; communicate findings clearly across all levels of the company.
• Drive scalable solutions leveraging AWS infrastructure.
• Establish and monitor technical and business performance metrics.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation; present findings to scientists, engineers, and business leaders.
• Champion best practices; mentor junior team members; foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results.
• Promote Data Science and ML automation through training and presentations; lead initiatives to leverage new opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience leading high-performing teams and utilizing advanced quantitative analyses and statistical modeling to positively impact business performance.
• More than 5 years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and NLP, including designing, developing, and deploying data-driven solutions.
• A growth mindset and a passion for staying updated with the latest developments in AI/ML and Generative AI.
• Experience in the digital media marketing industry with a proven ability to develop innovative methodologies that enhance digital advertising metrics like conversion rates, ad pacing, and ROI.
• Expertise in refining existing processes with new data inputs and model improvements to boost ML model effectiveness.
• Ability to translate data analytics into tangible business enhancements, with excellent communication skills to relay findings effectively across all company levels.
• Proficiency in leveraging AWS infrastructure to drive scalable solutions.
• Capability to construct and maintain precise performance indicators (technical and business) and documentation, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• A track record of fostering a culture of collective ownership and achievement, with a commitment to mentoring and professional development.

The salary range for this role is $240,000 - $280,000 + Bonus. Pay offered may vary within the posted range based on a number of factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
