Director, Quality Engineering

DUTIES:

  • Lead Quality Engineers and Quality Assurance team members to deliver on quality deliverables.
  • Develop and manage a continuous improvement program to improve quality, consistency, and client satisfaction.
  • Enable Product Teams to adapt and implement a Quality Engineering (QE) mindset.
  • Support application development as well as the QE and QA team shifts from Waterfall and Agile towards SAFe.
  • Help create and champion QE principles of automation and continual improvement to advance product development.
  • Drive the creation and adoption of automated testing to facilitate innovation, quality, and speed to market.
  • Partner with vendor and internal Marriott teams to provide leadership, strategy, and orchestration of all testing events to ensure that quality gates are met consistently, drive automation, and coordinate impacted groups across the enterprise.
  • Provide expert guidance on test environment strategy, setup, and configuration.
  • Coordinate with Product teams and Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) to establish KPIs and Metrics in-line with QE guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Platform teams to ensure tools required for testing conform to standards and help implement new solutions as required.
  • Work with Product teams to ensure integration/ end-to-end test cases are identified and maintained.
  • Assist in the evaluation of QE-related vendors and engages resources outside Marriott to evaluate existing processes and stays cognizant of emerging trends in software testing
  • Advise team on debugging aids available for environment.
  • Prepare testing schedules and documents expected results.
  • Facilitate the scheduling and performance of testing activity, submitting errors/issues for correction.
  • Participate in the identification and monitoring of risks and issues.
  • Facilitate risk management practices.
  • Communicate to Application Development leaders’ opportunities to improve quality.
  • Perform complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for delivering automated testing processes and tools.
  • Negotiate and direct the implementation of enabling tooling such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Cucumber, Selenium, etc.
  • Facilitate CI/CD using the DevOps pipeline.
  • Validate solutions with enterprise architecture team.
  • Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or a closely related field followed by 10 years of IT leadership experience OR Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or a closely related field and 8 years of IT leadership experience.

 

Other required experience:

  • 6 years of experience with direct management of cross functional, sourced, or offshore teams of 25 or more
  • 8 years of experience in software development, test engineering, with expert-level expertise in multiple testing methodologies.
  • 8 years of experience engaging highly technical architecture, engineering and operations teams and driving outcomes with QE automation.
  • 5 years of experience with DevOps tools (e.g. Git, JIRA, Ant, Maven, Jenkins) and Test Automation processes.
  • 5 years of experience in financial management of budgets and cost estimations
  • 4 years of hospitality-specific experience in delivering hospitality-focused software solutions.
  • 5 years of experience delivering Quality Engineering services focused on mobile applications.
  • SAFe 5.x (or greater) certification OR at least 5 years of experience leading and/or working in SAFe teams.
  • 2 years of experience in utilizing AI and ML in the QE landscape.

 

Telework: 100% Remote; position may be performed anywhere in the U.S.

Travel: Up to 20% domestic and international travel.
 

The salary range for this position is $139,880 to $185,100 annually.
