Director, Product Stewardship

Our Global Safety & Environment (GSE) team is passionate about bringing our medicines and vaccines to our customers around the world, while ensuring that our environment and our neighbors are not impacted.

This role, reporting to the Executive Director of Environmental Compliance, Sustainability & Stewardship CoE will manage the activities of a team of enthusiastic scientist and engineers supporting chemical management, chemical stewardship, hazard communication, environmental risk assessment and product stewardship globally across all functions of our company while driving improvements and alignment for regulatory compliance worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide leadership to a team of professionals. Develop talent and mentor professionals to improve individual performances

  • Serve as the company/industry expert in the areas of product stewardship providing leadership and applying scientific knowledge in a practical, innovative and strategic manner in support of our Company's business objectives.

  • Partner with the business and policy leaders to develop and implement the company’s strategic direction on future-driven initiatives related to Product Stewardship and compliance.

  • Oversee the chemical management systems, hazard communication (Safety Data Sheets), environmental risk assessment, chemical stewardship teams.

  • Engage on proposed laws, regulations, standards and our Company's program requirements within scope; represent business interests in providing comments to influence requirements, develop and drive plans for our Company to meet new requirements.

  • Advocate the company’s position in key forums to represent our position on critical environmental/chemical management issues.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience EHS or related discipline

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in EHS or related discipline

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Project management experience

  • Demonstrate attributes consistent with our Company's workforce of the future: adaptability, flexibility, teamwork, accountability, and innovation

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Robust skills interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks and keeping abreast of the changing regulatory landscape.

  • Strong leadership, change execution, and financial management skills including budget forecasting and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate with regulatory agencies and senior operations leaders. Understands the importance of providing context and connections for peers and clients.

  • Excellent coaching & development experience, proven people-development capabilities and building strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

  • Vision and sound judgment with a willingness to influence and offer new ideas; ability to develop strategy and execute tactically.
