 About This Role  

 Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a strategic, analytical, and collaborative Director, Patient Services focused on identifying and overseeing the programs and initiatives that support patient access to our products. The Director, Patient Services will provide both strategic and tactical oversight in the development, implementation, and management of patient service programs in alignment with both the company’s mission and market needs. The Director will work closely with multiple internal teams to ensure success.  Internally, the Director will foster highly collaborative positive working relationships with the broader Patient Services team and other Cross functional stakeholders across commercial, medical, and operations teams.  Externally, the Director will work with various partners to successfully lead strategy and tactical plan execution for multiple stakeholders.  This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Trade, Distribution, and Patient Services.   

This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.  

Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of patient service programs and initiatives that align the Company’s goals with product, provider, and patient specific needs 
  • Oversee the management of third-party vendors that provide services and programs on behalf of Axsome, including Co-Pay Program, Voucher Programs, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) 
  • Conduct periodic reviews of business rules for each program internally and with third-party vendors in alignment with current industry best practices and program objectives 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient service programs through metrics and measurement development to achieve program objectives 
  • Conduct periodic review of contractual obligations and third-party vendor performance to drive alignment to business and program objectives 
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient access and address barriers through collaborative alignment with multiple internal teams
  • Work with internal cross functional partners (Broader PSP team, brand marketing, legal, regulatory, etc.) and external groups to insure integration and consistency of business strategies and regulatory compliance of programs
  • Provide education and guidance to Leadership on patient service trends and potential strategies for current products and future pipeline
  • Identify strategic initiatives through active monitoring of industry trends to ensure patient support programs anticipate patient support needs and deliver best in class solutions
  • Consistently execute multiple projects in an on time and on budget manner 

Requirements / Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s/Undergraduate Degree and 9+ years in a pharmaceutical commercial function, with 5+ years of specific focus on co-pay, PAP, HUB, and similar patient service programs 
  • Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 

Experience, Knowledge and Skills 

  • Understanding the principles of Patient Service Programs and balancing patient needs with company goals 
  • Knowledge of marketing concepts in the development of PSP marketing plans and programs - including brand positioning, brand architecture, SWOT analysis, competitive assessment, market research, marketing objectives/strategies, patient segmentation, etc. 
  • Previous cross channel marketing experience preferred 
  • Experience working with and managing multiple internal and external partners 
  • A balance of analytical capability, creative vision and ability to implement projects 
  • Strong planning and organization skills, attention to detail, execution, and follow-through 
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a remote environment
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence decision makers and educate variety of internal audiences on complex concepts
  • A problem-solving mindset with demonstrated “lean-forward” approach and ability to think critically

Salary & Benefits  

The anticipated salary range for this role is $190,00 - $215,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
