Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Revenue Integrity will serve as a key staff member of the Revenue Cycle, providing detailed and extensive financial review of clinical revenue. The Director develops, maintains, and reports on the charge description master (CDM); ensures data and charge integrity between the CDM and hospital departments and service lines. The Director will assure accurate charge design, build, validation, testing and quality assurance for all changes to the CDM, electronic and paper charge forms, and charge systems applications. The Director is also responsible for Professional Fee Schedule maintenance to include yearly updates and ongoing changes as needed. The Director will lead the Denials Team, as well as the newly formed Revenue Cycle Work Queue Team and is also responsible for overall review and monitoring of Epic Revenue Activity.

Optimally, this would be a hybrid role, filled in the Central Arkansas area. However, fully remote candidates are welcome to apply!


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, healthcare or related field plus seven (7) years of hospital financial healthcare revenue cycle experience to include five (5) years of supervisory experience in personnel management and budget preparation.

  • Proficient knowledge of personal computer uses and Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel.

  • Strong communication, organizational, customer service and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with business partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic certification with one or more revenue cycle Epic applications.

  • Epic experience with account and claim work queues.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all staff reporting to the Revenue Integrity Team to include the hiring, training, evaluation, disciplinary action and termination of staff as necessary.    Ensures departmental, IRRC, ICE, and campus policies are followed within the unit.    

  • Develops, maintains and enhances the CDM in a manner that supports UAMS’s Coding and Compliance Monitoring Plan.

  • Performs a detailed, annual review of the CDM that includes identifying CPT and HCPCS codes that have been deleted, added, or replaced; assigns CPT and HCPCS specific codes when appropriate, identifies description changes, ensures the nomenclature reflects the procedures performed, and maintains an audit trail of all changes.

  • Performs all necessary reviews and updates to the Professional Fee Schedule. 

  • Monitors revenue and usage reports daily for anomalies and research issues. Reviews late charge reports for optimization and efficiency opportunities. Completes and provides other management reports as requested. 

  • Analyzes informational bulletins, journals, newsletters, and other sources and disseminates pertinent information and instructions to involved staff. Exhibits and maintains an understanding and application of CPT, HCPCS and ICD coding regulations and guidelines.

  • Manages the revenue Epic Work Queue Team that will daily review and work as necessary all revenue assigned work queues.

  • Leverages technology to ensure that automated solutions and applications (Epic and non-Epic) support functional objectives. Identifies gaps and proposes solutions where necessary.

  • Serves as the Denial Prevention Team Director and will lead meetings and coordinate preparation efforts, escalate barriers to SLAs, owns denial metric measurement, reporting, and weekly report distribution, conduct independent denial trend and detailed research, proactively identify shifts in denial performance, establish DPT subcommittees based on needs, functions as Huron Super User to address issues and enhancement requests.

  • Leads the quarterly joint Revenue Cycle and Service Line meetings.

  • Serves as resource for other Revenue Cycle Directors regarding revenue reporting and information gathering.   

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
