Through its early-grade program, PowerMyLearning combines professional learning with a math practice tool to enhance instruction, with a special focus on promoting math discourse, supporting multilingual learners, and engaging families.

Position Overview
The Director of Math Instructional Design will be a key leader in the Product and Programs team, reporting directly to the Managing Director. In this role, you will oversee the creation of culturally responsive math content for PreK-5 students, with a focus on PowerMyLearning's Family Playlists and related products. You'll ensure that all content is designed to be pedagogically sound and engaging for diverse learners, particularly multilingual learners and students from marginalized communities. By applying instructional design best practices, you'll collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align content with research-backed instructional methods, national standards, and the latest trends in math learning science.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development (60%)
- Co-create the vision and strategy for math content, supporting both academic and social-emotional learning, with a strong focus on engaging multilingual learners (MLLs) and fostering equity.
- Lead the production of PreK-5 math content, including Family Playlists, ensuring timely, high-quality, and budget-conscious delivery.
- Set clear standards of instructional design excellence, ensuring content aligns with evidence-based practices, HQIM (e.g., Eureka Math), and national/state standards.
- Work closely with Product and Tech teams to ensure seamless integration of math content into our platform for both teachers and students.
Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement (25%)
- Research trends in K-5 math education, identify curriculum gaps, and stay current on instructional best practices to continuously refine content.
- Gather and analyze feedback from educators, students, and families to improve content usability and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with external partners and advisors to ensure our content is research-driven, culturally responsive, and impactful.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration (15%)
- Lead and mentor internal staff and contractors in content development, providing feedback and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align content with broader product strategies and marketing efforts, ensuring consistency and quality.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience leading digital content teams with a strong background in K-5 curriculum.
- Expertise in instructional best practices for multilingual learners and experience creating math content that supports collaborative learning.
- Knowledge of national math standards and familiarity with HQIM (e.g., Illustrative Math).
- Proven ability to manage content projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Advanced degree in instructional design, learning science, or mathematics education.
- K-5 math teaching experience or ESL certification.
- Experience presenting at conferences or educational workshops.

Compensation
The annual salary for this position is $115,000 and is non-negotiable.
