Director of Finance

Clever is looking for a Director of Finance to join our team. In this role, you will own the accounting function from top to bottom. The ideal candidate will also support Clever’s launch of new products and international growth through setup of new finance processes.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
FP&A
- Assist CFO in leading annual budget, reforecasts, and long-term plans.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
- Monitor company financial performance against company’s short term and long-term business objectives and growth plans.
- Effectively communicate financial performance, trends, and risks to executive leadership and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency in financial matters.
- Lead headcount planning & budgeting with People Operations.
- Collaborate with People Operations on annual compensation, benefits and perks review and support decision making.
Business Partnering
- Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dashboards to monitor Sales performance such as customer lifetime value and customer acquisition costs.
- Partner with the Sales & Success team to provide meaningful analysis into sales trends as well as guidance on complex deal structures.
- Provide insightful financial analysis to support decision making and drive strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with operational, product, and technology teams to align financial strategy with business objectives.
- Act as a strategic partner to leadership, providing data-driven insights and guidance to optimize financial performance.
- Lead the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process for the Sales & Success orgs in alignment with company goals and objectives.
Controllership
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Payroll management.
- Manage corporate risk, ensure adherence to GAAP, and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Implement robust financial controls, processes, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements in processes to support a growing company.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
Compliance
- Oversee and work closely with external auditors for 401K, financial and SOC 2 audits.
- Oversee and work closely with tax compliance consultants for sales tax and income tax compliance requirements.
- Support People Operations with HR compliance such as 401K administration, local, state and federal labor related reporting requirements.
People Management
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced qualification strongly preferred.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive finance experience, including at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role within a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
- Familiarity with Netsuite and data analytics tools.
- Experience in scaling finance operations in a high-growth environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of SaaS business models, subscription revenue metrics, and related financial dynamics.
- Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Current or prior experience working at a company with at least >$75 million/annual revenue and international operational presence.
- Previous leadership experience with a commitment to team development.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management and present financial issues to non-finance personnel.

You have an advantage if you have:
- Prior experience within a SaaS organization, particularly with a GTM focus.
- Experience with Salesforce, Netsuite, and/or Stripe market place sales.
- Lead finance function in organization with international operational presence.

SALARY TRANSPARENCY:
The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in the United States, besides NYC and San Francisco, CA, is between $172,100 - $202,500. For candidates living in NYC and San Francisco, CA is between $189,300 - $222,800. All final offers are determined using multiple factors including experience and level of expertise.
