About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead our finance function as we scale. This role will be responsible for the financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and accounting operations, ensuring the company maintains strong financial discipline as we grow to an established market leader. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a key strategic partner in shaping our financial infrastructure, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring financial accuracy while supporting rapid business expansion and ROI. 

This role will also be responsible for modeling top line revenue forecasts, supporting organizational resourcing and capacity plans, and managing bottom line optimizations, while supporting investor reporting requests. 

This role is located with strong preference toward onsite or onsite-hybrid presence at our Santa Clara, CA headquarters or Seattle, WA office. Remote-US may be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting and Accounting: Ensure accurate financial records and reporting in accordance with GAAP, while effectively managing the organization's accounting policies and procedures.
  • Cash Flow and Treasury Management: Oversee cash flow planning and ensure the availability of funds as needed. Manage banking relationships and strategic financial planning to optimize treasury operations.
  • Compliance and Tax Management: Monitor compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Manage tax planning and compliance to minimize liability and ensure accurate, timely filing of tax returns.
  • Strategic Finance and Investor Relations: Develop financial strategies that align with organizational goals. Maintain and strengthen investor relations through clear, consistent communication and engagement strategies.

Process Improvement and Systems Integration: Continuously assess and improve financial processes through the integration of advanced systems and technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including Controller, or Head of Finance experience in a high-growth environment.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial reporting, tax, and compliance.
  • Experience managing financial operations and internal controls in a scaling company.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with tactical execution, thriving in a fast-paced startup setting.
  • Experience managing a team. 
  • Experience managing third party providers.
  • Experience in hardware, robotics, manufacturing, or deep tech industries.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement finance tools as we scale. 
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Cap Table Management tools, PEO or Payroll Services, and Excel/Google sheets.
  • Highly motivated teammate with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced, collaborative and dynamic start-up environment as part of a small team.
  • Willing to occasionally travel.
  • Must have and maintain US work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a public accounting firm is highly desirable, with a preference for candidates who have worked in both large company environments and startups.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred. 
  • Hands-on experience in operations and supply chain management, demonstrating an ability to optimize and streamline business processes.
  • Experience with the implementation or migration of accounting software tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms, showcasing strong technical skills in financial systems.

 

The base salary range for this position is $245,000-$280,000 plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and experience level. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the noted geographic area. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training
