Director, Media Strategy (Corporate/Business Media & Thought Leadership)

We're seeking a Director, Media Strategy to support our corporate clients with a focus on corporate storytelling, business media and thought leadership.

As a Director, Media Strategy, you will be:

  • Joining Praytell’s Media Team, focused on corporate storytelling, business media and thought leadership, supporting clients across various industries including lifestyle, beauty/wellness, food/bev, alcohol/spirits, tech, travel, sports and more.
  • Accountable for positioning our clients in key business media and relevant industry conversations.
  • Developing compelling corporate narratives and identifying feature opportunities to generate interest and secure coverage across both traditional and emerging media channels (e.g., print, online, podcasts, social/digital video, e-newsletters).
  • Driving innovative media strategies and overseeing all aspects of their execution in collaboration with the account team.
  • Lead thought leadership programs for executives, securing opportunities in top-tier media and events while driving strategy, execution, and measurement across their social channels.
  • Providing strategic input on campaign strategies, offering insightful, data-driven perspectives and enhancing overall plans.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with business media including digital, social and broadcast through consistent networking and engagement.
  • Managing proactive and reactive media relations for corporate clients.
  • Collaborating with the account team on crafting media lists, press releases, briefing documents, bylines and mailers.
  • Mentoring and training junior staff in media relations strategy including participating in and leading staff development programs and cultural initiatives.
  • Staying informed on industry news and trends to enhance media strategies and suggest fresh pitch angles and ideas to ensure we break through to our target audiences.
  • Collaborating with the Media Team to develop industry perspectives, share insights from media engagements and contribute as a media relations expert for the PR department.
  • Joining client calls as the subject matter expert on media trends, emerging platforms and target outlets.
  • Providing media training for spokespeople as part of campaign efforts and staffing interviews on behalf of clients.
  • Participating in new business initiatives which may involve occasional travel and contributing to mentorship and training programs for junior staff.

Requirements

Experience you have:

  • You have 8+ years of experience in public relations, preferably in an agency environment, with expertise in corporate storytelling, business media, and thought leadership.
  • You’ve developed and executed media strategies for clients across various industries including food and beverage, technology, and consumer lifestyle.
  • You’ve participated in new business pitches and are comfortable communicating with senior-level clients.
  • You have established strong relationships with business media and continuously build new connections across multiple media channels.
  • You have experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
