Strategic Director, HR Business Partner – Workforce Solutions

As the strategic HR Business Partner for Pearson’s Workforce Solutions business within the Workforce Skills Division, you will play a pivotal role in driving the people strategy that enables Pearson to become the best place to work. You will focus on attracting, growing, and retaining the right skills, capabilities, and behaviours to empower our employees, deliver for customers, and meet ambitious growth targets. Your role will centre on fostering a high-performance culture, particularly within sales teams, while embedding AI-driven insights and enterprise-wide selling strategies across global markets.

You will collaborate closely with senior leaders to align business and HR strategies, helping to elevate Pearson’s employee experience. This role demands a commercially-minded HR leader who can act as a change agent, promoting a culture that harnesses technology and data to raise the performance bar across teams.

Location: This role is remote, with some travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the talent strategy for Workforce Solutions, ensuring alignment with business growth goals. Partner with leadership to build a culture that drives engagement and delivers results.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent by implementing programs focused on capability building, career development, and succession planning.
  • Leverage AI technology and workforce analytics to shape talent decisions, monitor team performance, and support the achievement of sales and growth targets.
  • Collaborate with leaders to drive change management initiatives that support new ways of working, particularly in sales leadership and performance management.
  • Build strong, trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders, delivering HR solutions that foster innovation and drive operational excellence.

Sales Performance & Talent Development

  • Design strategies that promote a high-performance sales culture, using data-driven insights to identify gaps, optimize team performance, and achieve sales targets.
  • Develop training and leadership development initiatives that enhance the capabilities of the sales teams, aligning talent programs with business needs.
  • Partner with sales leadership to build succession plans and implement performance management systems that recognize and reward top performers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional HR teams (CoEs, Talent Acquisition, HR Ops) to execute people programs that meet the evolving needs of the business.

Employee Relations & Workforce Planning

  • Provide expert advice to leaders on employee relations, coaching them through conflict resolution, performance management, and complex employment law issues across the globe.
  • Develop and implement workforce plans that align with business objectives, ensuring the right talent is in place to drive future growth.
  • Use data and diversity metrics to inform talent strategies and deliver solutions that improve employee retention and engagement across the sales function.

About You:

  • Proven experience as a strategic HR Business Partner, with a strong focus on driving growth and sales team performance.
  • Extensive working knowledge of employment law and experience in managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing talent strategies that foster a high-performance culture.
  • Expertise in data-driven HR practices, with the ability to use analytics to influence business decisions and enhance employee experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coach and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on delivering business results through people strategies.
  • A track record of driving positive change, with the ability to lead through ambiguity and foster a collaborative culture.

What you can expect from Pearson 

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $150,000 - $200,000
