Position Summary
The Director of Financial Planning and Decision Support provides leadership in financial analysis, forecasting, and decision support for the health system. This role is focused on developing long-term financial strategies, performing in-depth financial analyses, and providing data-driven insights to guide decision-making. The Director collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders to evaluate financial performance and support initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and optimizing patient care. Reports to AVP Strategic Finance.Essential Functions
Financial Forecasting and Analysis
- Lead the development of financial forecasts and long-term financial plans that align with the health system’s strategic goals and conduct financial modeling and perform in-depth analysis on key financial metrics, service line profitability, and cost efficiency.
- Provide financial impact assessments for new projects, services, or initiatives, helping leaders understand financial implications.
Decision Support
- Develop and maintain financial models that support data-driven decision-making, including cost-benefit analysis and return on investment (ROI) assessments.
- Ensure that financial data systems are optimized to support reporting, analysis, and decision-making across the health system.
Reporting and Financial Performance Evaluation
- Create and deliver financial performance reports to senior leadership, focusing on key financial metrics and areas for improvement and lead efforts in benchmarking financial performance against industry standards and peer organizations to drive continuous improvement
- Perform service line profitability analysis, identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost containment.
Collaboration and Strategic Insight
- Collaborate with department heads and senior leaders to provide strategic financial insights that support growth, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in financial planning, analysis, or decision support, with a focus on healthcare financial operations.
- Five (5) years progressive experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $130,499.00 - $187,782.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.Associated benefit information can be viewed here.
