A Brief Overview
The Director, Data Governance & Quality will be responsible for leading and managing the data governance and data quality initiatives across the organization. This role ensures that data is managed, maintained, and utilized as a strategic asset, aligning with the company's goals and regulatory requirements.

What you will do:

  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance and quality strategy.
  • Lead the Data Governance Council and collaborate with key stakeholders to establish data governance policies and standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the data governance and quality team.
  • Policy Development & Compliance
  • Define and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries, data catalogs, and metadata management.
  • Data Quality
  • Develop and implement data quality management processes.
  • Monitor and report on data quality metrics and KPIs.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure data governance and quality initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
  • Promote data governance and quality awareness and best practices across the organization.
  • Communicate data governance and quality goals, progress, and outcomes to senior management.
  • Risk Management
  • Identify data-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure data governance and quality practices support data privacy and security requirements.
  • Team Management
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a small team of data governance and quality professionals.
  • Foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability within the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field 
  • Master's Degree preferred 

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically 10+ years experience in data governance, data quality, or a related field 
  • Typically 5+ years experience leading a team 

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven leadership experience in managing data governance and quality programs. 
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, implementing frameworks, data quality management, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Applies strategic frameworks and governance tools and facilitates a smooth corporate integration. 
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, including data integration and master data management. 
  • Understands data governance challenges and standard methodologies for data cataloging, quality and controls. 
  • Recognizes and values data management and data governance practices including data stewards, data custodians, data lineage, data cleansing, metadata management, etc. 
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). 
  • Experience in a specific industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, HR) with relevant regulatory knowledge a plus 
  • Analyzes and extrapolates data an deducts complex options for technology infrastructure based on organization system requirements. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Experience with data governance and quality tools and technologies. 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification in data governance or data quality (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) preferred

The salary range for this role is $119,200 to $314,800. The candidate’s final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, education, work location and experience.

A candidate’s compensation may also include bonuses consistent with TriNet’s corporate bonus plan.
