About the Director of Compensation role  

  • This role is a key member of our People team, reporting to the VP Global People Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and evolving Material’s compensation programs in North America and EMEA. This is an exciting time to join the team as we embark on several foundational and strategic talent projects including revising our global job architecture, aligning our salary structures globally, expanding our adoption of Workday and elevating our use of analytics. 

  • The Director, Compensation role requires a blend of compensation expertise, strong analytical skills and a highly collaborative approach. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to implement fresh ideas and see a direct impact on Material’s people and business. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Partnering Across Material 

  • Work directly with business leaders advising on compensation matters including analysis, benchmarking as well as coaching, education, and decision-support. 

  • Collaborate with our Talent Business Partners on specific employee issues and to ensure our compensation programs continue to retain and motivate top talent. 

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to benchmark positions and develop competitive total reward packages. 

  • Ensure our compensation decisions and activities are coordinated and aligned globally. 

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Benefits to deliver an integrated Total Rewards program. 

  • Work closely with Finance on payroll, budget and financial impact. 

 

Managing Day-to-Day and Annual Activities: 

  • Manage our base pay program, ensuring our pay practices remain fair, transparent, and competitive. 

  • Develop communication materials and plans to ensure our pay practices and any changes are well understood and supported. 

  • Oversee the Material Bonus Plan, including plan design, tracking, and payout. 

  • Administer the compensation elements of our Commission programs. 

  • Maintain and enhance the Material job architecture. 

  • Ensure compliance with reporting and legal requirements.  

  • Ensure our compensation data is accurate, available, and secure. 

  • Develop and share compensation analysis on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
