Overview
Position Summary:The primary job function is to head the Corporate Audit function and is responsible for all internal audit activities within the Company.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
-Develops an annual audit risk assessment and annual audit plan for Audit Committee approval.-Plans, organizes, directs and controls the execution of the annual audit plan. Supervises assigned staff and performs people management tasks.-Directs the execution of operational, financial, compliance, and IT audits and projects; directs SDLC controls consulting reviews and special projects such as fraud risk and control assessments.-Espouses and provides counsel on internal controls to the audited. Builds and maintains strong customer relations internally with all levels of management and with peers, and externally with external auditors and other constituents.-Builds and maintains a professional and competent audit staff. This position is accountable to the Board of Directors through its Audit Committee. Functionally and administratively it reports to the VP/CFO.-The incumbent has wide latitude to regularly exercise independent judgment free from immediate supervision in order to manage his/her duties and responsibilities.-Is authorized to recommend policy or procedural changes to management and, upon approval, implement such changes as they pertain to Corporate Audit.-Corporate Audit regularly makes recommendations to business management to improve operational efficiency and control effectiveness.-Is authorized to extend offers of employment with final approval of the department manager and/or Human Resources.-Is authorized to participate in the recruitment process (interview candidates, select, and hire). Is authorized to offer performance feedback, career guidance, and to mentor/develop less-experienced team members.
Qualifications
Education:• Bachelor’s Degree required• MBA preferred• At least one of the following designations is required: CISA, CIA, CPA, or CPCU. Experience:• 9 - 11 years of experience, of which 5 years should be in audit management • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
