Learner-centric, digital products are front and center of Kaplan’s evolving strategy, and the Digital Product Group will be instrumental in its success. Within this group, the Digital Product Owner will drive innovation and delivery for his/her product purview, and cross-functionally across the organization. The Product Owner will champion a deep understanding of learner’s needs and delights, and exhibit best-in-class product development skills and Agile team leadership. This role will inform product road-mapping, and be a key driver in bringing the learner experience to life.

 

Beyond business and technical savvy, the Digital Product Owner will need a collaborative spirit that connects ideas to execution, and creativity to performance analytics.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees Agile Scrum ceremonies and serves as a Product Owner focused on a product or portfolio of products within the digital department.

  • Translates deep understanding of learner, industry, and technological business needs into a rich backlog and tasks for the scrum team.

  • Leads by example to inspire team efficiency and growth, while fostering cross-departmental relationships with stakeholders, business partners, and vendors.

  • Prioritizes work to be done and negotiates resourcing needs to accomplish team goals.

  • Exhibits a hunger to learn and a growth mindset.

  • Provides subject matter expertise and leadership.

  • Communicates and celebrates team successes — and failures — with transparency and urgency.

  • Creates a dynamic and supportive environment where all work and team members feel connected to KHE’s greater mission and vision.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or technology related field. 

  • 5+ years of professional business experience preferably in IT, marketing, product. design/development or consulting

  • Experience with digital platforms and IT program launches.

  • Knowledge of emerging AI concepts in analysis and product design.

  • Experience partnering with engineers and user experience design professionals on transformational projects with a goal to “wow” clients.

  • Experience breaking down requirements, recommending solutions and organizing to deliver it.

  • Ability to work in a lean and agile environment.

  • Knowledge of user-centered design methodologies.

  • Excellent analytical skills and data analytics experience.

  • Proven project management abilities including ability to successfully develop and execute plans on time.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and influence diverse, cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

  • Proven ability to be a self-starter in an ambiguous and complex environment with shifting priorities.

  • Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt seamlessly in a changing work environment

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and high-level of personal initiative

  • Fearless in the face of new technology and new ideas

  • Start-up mentality and desire to innovate at a fast pace 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a software development environment or in a professional services role.

  • Direct experience with doing software development, testing and/or business analysis - (an advantage).

  • Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II) - (an advantage). 

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner - (an advantage).

For full-time positions, Kaplan has two Salary Grades, this position is a Salary Grade B: $64,000 - $202,600. Actual compensation for this role is determined by several factors including but not limited to job level, candidate's skills, experience, and education, among other factors determined by the business.
