Position Summary:
The Development Manager will play an important role in managing processes, data, and relationships for Audubon’s leadership Giving program. This position will report to the Senior Director, Leadership Giving and will work closely with staff across the development team and other departments, including finance and field offices.
Compensation:
Salary range based on geo-differentials:
$71,000-$82,000/year = National
$80,000-$90,000/year = Alaska, CA (not San Francisco), Connecticut, D.C., Chicago, Oyster Bay, NY
$85,000-$95,000/year = NYC (not Oyster Bay), San Francisco, Seattle

Essential Functions:
Working in partnership with the Senior Director of Leadership Giving, the Development Manager will facilitate the cultivation and elevation of relationships with principal gift level managed prospects assigned to the Senior Director through the creation of meeting preparation/follow up materials, correspondence, and other interactions. This role will directly support the portfolio of the Senior Director and assist with portfolio management of Senior Director’s direct reports where requested.
Assist in donor/prospect meeting briefings and event briefings for Executive Staff, special donor correspondence, and help draft proposals and reports for solicitation and stewardship purposes.
Support the implementation of small to medium donor events.
Manage the gift acknowledgment process (both formally and informally) made by donors assigned to the Senior Director as well as fundraisers and regionally based national, state, and center board members.
Track and support the stewardship program, creating impact reports and other stewardship vehicles, and maintaining a calendar of deliverables for leadership giving team.
Provide design support to Senior Director and fundraisers for proposals, and coordinate Dev Comms and Art Department review for all materials produced to ensure branding alignment.
Coordinate and organize accurate donor and prospect data collection and management in Salesforce.
Act as a Salesforce “Super User” resource for the team, ensuring proper compliance with organizational rules and best practices, and recommending training and guidance from Development Services for staff who are not in compliance.
Work with Senior Director to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of their managed staff. Assist in ensuring that tasks are completed and elevate any issues that arise among team members.
Attend monthly meetings with Director of Operations, Leadership Giving to ensure work product is high quality, best practices are shared, and coordination across teams is consistent to build cohesive delivery of development support across the organization and culture of philanthropy.
Work with Director of Operations, Leadership Giving and team as well as other Development Managers to support additional projects to support entire Leadership Giving team when needed.
Create custom reports for Senior Director and their managed team to track fundraising, documenting outcomes and next steps, and supporting follow-up with program staff and manager.
Work with Senior Director to ensure CBAP report is amended regularly to reflect updates and activity from SD and fundraising staff working throughout the region; analyze and report on efforts to Senior Director as requested.
Collaborate with Audubon staff to ensure that equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging principles are incorporated and followed in all aspects of our work.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years professional experience in a development position (preferred) that includes portfolio management, directly and/or in support of a senior leader focused on principal gifts. Or Masters Degree and 3 years of professional experience.
Understanding of fundraising principals, best practices, and procedures including moves management and effective fundraising pipeline development.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong interpersonal skills; understanding of person-to-person relationships, and ability to create and build trust.
A self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload, and ensure deadlines are met.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, while exercising discretion and personal judgment where appropriate.
Proficiency with Salesforce, Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and development database programs required.
A flexible approach to work, with the willingness to work some evenings and weekends and travel for events when necessary.
Ability to travel throughout the network up to 10% of the time.
