Under the newly minted division of University Marketing & Communications, Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. The Office of Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. The Office of Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

Drexel University’s Office of Marketing Communications seeks a passionate and creative Designer, User Experience (UX Designer) to serve and assume responsibility for providing supporting strategic UX recommendations for online communications and contribute with a UX team by implementing a seamless online experience across multiple touch points for Drexel University with Senior UX Designers and the Director of User Experience. These touch points include QC and development of web, mobile, email, digital & social media, SEO, and more experiences. This role must be able to collaborate with graphic designers, writers, programmers, project managers, and stakeholders who may have varying degrees of understanding about how digital media supports their communication needs. The UX Designer provides guidance for online communication strategies and reports on emerging trends in user experience through formal recommendations to stakeholders and internal staff.

Essential Functions

  • Supportive responsibility for the development and maintenance of a high volume of complex recruitment and retention marketing materials for all areas of Drexel University’s digital footprint.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, designers, writers, developers, strategists, and project managers within Marketing & Communications as well as with other teams at the University, and freelance and vendor support to develop project requirement deliverables.
  • Develop site architectures, wireframes, storyboards, prototypes, and any other documents needed to communicate UX requirements. Guide implementations by translating the documentation into appropriate interactive experiences, including UX management of multiple CMS and CRM system properties.
  • Offer guidance on the development of online resources and tools used by current and prospective students as well as all general visitors to Drexel University digital properties.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing as well monitor and interpret website analytics, document findings, present, and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Q/A testing of email and website properties in a heavy volume-based organization.
  • Develop recommendations based on marketing campaign testing and analytics.
  • Provide recommendations to University administration, colleges and all stakeholders on creative/UX approaches and management.
  • Research, present and implement the latest trends in marketing, campaign testing techniques, and developments in the Higher Education field.
  • Occasional weekend and after-hours work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in digital marketing and UX design or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS) and customer relationship management systems (CRM) – Slate, Salesforce, Sitecore experience strongly desired.
  • Experience in enterprise-level website management.
  • Past success working with UX teams and on multiple projects on tight deadlines.
  • Practical experience with cross-browser/platform web publishing, including coding/troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator) is required for graphics creation and more as well as HTML/XHTML, CSS, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of web standards, responsive design, SEO, accessibility, usability, and interaction design.
  • Experience in utilizing the full portfolio of Google Analytics offerings (GA360 a plus).
  • Excellent knowledge of UX design principles, production.
  • Strong oral and written and presentation communication skills.
  • Familiarity with basic video editing and creation of simple motion graphics a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a high-performance team environment under deadline pressure, and good interpersonal skills. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt, grade P. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 to $81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
