The Random House Childrenâs Trade Publishing group seeks a designer to join their novel interior design team. The designer will work closely with the interior art director, cover designers and editors to develop the interior design of young adult and middle grade novels. Projects range from 1-color interior designs and heavily illustrated novels to full color nonfiction and graphic novels for young adult and middle grade. This is a unique opportunity for a highly creative and collaborative designer who has an interest in interior book design in both print and digital formats.Â

Specific responsibilities include:Â
⢠Designs and tracks interior components from concept stage to final printed book.Â
⢠Follows interior workflow standards that comply with our print and e-book production processes.Â
⢠Uses InDesign styles to design interiors that will function in both a print and electronic setting.âŻÂ
⢠Manages and prioritizes numerous projects with varying timelines.Â
⢠Works collaboratively and constructively with interior art director, cover designers, editors, production managers, and freelancers.

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:Â
⢠MUST have minimum of 4 yearsâ experience in trade book design
⢠Strong understanding of the print production processÂ
⢠A passion and eye for good typographyÂ
⢠Expert command of Adobe Creative SuiteÂ
⢠Strong photo manipulation skillsÂ
⢠Thorough understanding of InDesign paragraph and character stylesÂ
⢠Meticulous attention to detailÂ
⢠Responsive to feedback, yet able to maintain creative intuitionÂ
⢠Ability to work both independently and collaborativelyÂ
⢠Proactive at meeting deadlines and organizing workÂ
⢠Experience in articulating design and conceptual decisionsÂ
⢠A passion for learning new design technologies and trendsÂ
⢠Hand-lettering skills a plusÂ

The salary for this position is $66,500.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results. âŻÂ
