Design Engineer - Studies – Power Plant Controller Modeling
Remote, United States
The Opportunity
Ulteig is currently seeking talented and motivated Design Engineer - Studies level engineering candidates to support power system studies and modeling within the renewable energy markets. This position would focus on modeling power plant controllers at various stages of a renewable project, including early-stage work for an Interconnection Application.
What You'll Do
The design engineer for Power Plant Controller modeling is expected to perform the following tasks:
- Work closely with the Ulteig Plant SCADA team to understand the power plant controller product that is designed in house and implemented at solar PV and BESS sites.
- Update and maintain the custom plant controller models that are developed in house (in PSSE, PSCAD and TSAT software packages)
- Incorporate the plant controller models into overall plant models and conduct dynamic simulations to test the performance of the plant. Tune the parameters to meet regional requirements.
- Advise internal teams on how the plant controller parameters should be implemented in the field to meet regional requirements.
- Work with developer clients and system operators/transmission owners to understand any model performance feedback and make updates to the model accordingly.
- Understand the fast paced nature of early-stage interconnection work and the need to respond to feedback and questions quickly.
