ABOUT THE POSITION
The Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Employee Relations Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining a fair, equitable, and compliant work environment at the university. This dual-focus position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by working collaboratively as part of the Title IX team to respond to and investigate employee-related Title IX complaints and addressing various employee relations issues. The successful candidate will work closely with the Title IX Coordinator and HR team to ensure that all matters are handled professionally, thoroughly, and in accordance with university policies, federal and state regulations, and applicable laws.
In this role, the specialist will conduct in-depth investigations, make informed determinations, and provide recommendations that directly influence the university’s workplace culture and compliance efforts. The successful candidate will be instrumental in resolving complex employee issues and upholding the university's commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Title IX
Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator to ensure consistent and compliant application of the Title IX policy and procedures
Work with, and at the direction of, the Title IX Coordinator to investigate Title IX complaints that involve employees in adherence with university policies, federal regulations, and state laws
Conduct and participate in interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses as part of the investigative process
Collect and analyze evidence relevant to Title IX investigations
Follow Title IX procedures to prepare investigative reports with meticulous attention to detail and make recommendations based on findings
Stay current on Title IX regulations, best practices, and trainings, and make recommendations to the Title IX Coordinator regarding updates to procedures and practices where merited
Employee Relations
Respond to and investigate employee relations complaints, including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, and workplace misconduct
Respond to conflicts between employees or between employees and management when appropriate
Analyze employee relations data to identify trends and potential areas of concern
Provide guidance to management on employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with university policies and employment laws
Assist in the development and revision of employee policies and procedures as needed
Compliance and Reporting
Maintain accurate and confidential records of all investigations and their outcomes
Prepare reports on employee relations matters for university leadership
Ensure all actions and decisions comply with relevant university policies, federal and state regulations, and laws
Collaborate with the legal department as needed on complex cases or policy interpretations
Education and Support
Provide information and resources to employees involved in Title IX or employee relations cases
Collaborate with HR, Title IX, and other departments to develop and deliver targeted training sessions on Title IX and employee relations topics as needed
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees and managers on Title IX and employee relations matters
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in terms of education and training in a relevant field required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education, human resources, or related field
At least 2 years of experience in Title IX
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional formal education and training in a relevant field
Relevant professional certifications
Strong knowledge of Title IX, employment laws, and HR best practices
Excellent investigative and analytical skills
Superior interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
Experience conducting workplace investigations and preparing comprehensive reports
Proficiency in data analysis and trend identification
Familiarity with mediation and conflict resolution techniques
Ability to remain impartial and objective in challenging situations
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Experience in higher education settings
Knowledge of trauma-informed investigation practices
Familiarity with case management software (Maxient) and database systems
Compensation & Benefits
This opportunity is budgeted at $80,000 - $100,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
